Everyone needs to practice saying NO just so you don't forget how!

I have a good friend who sky dived last October at age 91. He plans to do it again this fall...

He would not drive above the speed limit, even if I made us run very late.”
As a frequent offender, speeding doesn’t make up for poor planning.
It only gets you to the next stop light ahead of the other guy.
3 lights and you’re all even!

She shouldn’t beat herself up - unless she also packed his chute.

Manhattan real estate investor David Winoker died with sky diving instructor Alexander Chulsky on Friday during a failed tandem parachute jump in Ulster County, New York, when their parachute did not open. Actually, they didn't die when their parachute didn't open -- they died when they hit the ground after their parachute did not open.

I guess there's no point to this woman's beating herself up over her husband's death. However, I don't have much sympathy for her. I think it's bizarre that a woman would badger her reluctant husband to jump out of an airplane. It sounds like one of those old Columbo shows, where it would turn out the wife had been having an affair and bribed the person packing the chutes to sabotage them. OK, that's probably not what happened. Nevertheless, I think this woman acted like a jerk and now she's paying dearly for that,

Some people truly believe that regularly defying gravity ( via whatever daredevil dalliance), is what life is all about; that those allegedly thrilling activities constitue a consummate life experience.

As my father used to say, it wasn’t the fall, it was the sudden stop.

Yup, it’s not the fall that kills ya, it’s the impact.

(I can neither confirm or deny that; even if I could, I couldn't - it's classified.)

I’ll do just about anything the wife asks, because it’s generally easier than arguing about it, but jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is a definite line in the sand.

I can definitely imagine a Columbo episode with this theme.
"Ya see, ma'am, if you were having an affair -- and I'm not suggesting you were -- then a sky diving accident for your husband might be very convenient. No offense."
"None taken, Lieutenant. In fact, I'll admit to it. You see, I was cheating on my husband."
"Is that a fact?"
"Yes, Lieutenant. But it hardly provides evidence that I caused this accident."
"But it might."
"I don't think so -- you see: my lover was Alexander Chulsky!"
"The sky diving instructor?"
"Yes! So you can imagine I wouldn't want to kill my husband AND my lover."
"Of course not."
"Good day, Lieutenant."
"Good day, Ma'am ... oh, just one more thing, Ma'am?"
"Really, Lieutenant! You try my patience!"
"I'm so sorry, Ma'am. I was just wondering ... How well did you know ... the pilot?"

"One more thing ma'am... when your husband pulled his cord I'm sure he was surprised to see his laundry deploy instead of a parachute. Can you explain that to me? Because I can't figure it out."

Actually it is hard to assess guilt without putting an eyeball on the wife.
Allowing your wife to ‘pack your chute’ is up there with the no-no’s, almost like saying
“Never hand a loaded pistol to anyone unless she thinks it is her hair dryer”.

Perfect! I could hear his voice during the whole conversation.

He truly believes that taking daredevil chances is what life is all about.
And no, I am not about to waste my time arguing this matter all over again with anyone.
