Miley Cyrus has gotten engaged to "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth, People is reporting.
Cyrus, 19, has been dating Hemsworth, 22, for three years, and the engagement has been confirmed to the magazine by their representatives. A wedding date has not yet been set.
"I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," said the singer/actress.
Australian actor Hemsworth and Cyrus met when they shared screen credits in 2009's "The Last Song." People reports that he proposed on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring in a gold band.
As People's Julie Jordan told TODAY on Wednesday, "It's kind of sweet, because they shared Miley's first on-screen kiss together. They've been together since she was 16. They have a very playful relationship. Very real. Very honest."
Added Jordan, "I think Miley has obviously gotten a good dose of what fame and fortune is like, and now with Liam coming into his own.... She's very excited about his success, and I think they're going to be good for each other. They're definitely going to keep each other balanced."

I wish them the best. They seem to be a nice couple and they both stay out of the police blotter. Sure they are young, but a good many of my friends were married in their adult teens and early twenties and still are married. Austrialians typically are very laid back and I bet they will have a nice marriage as long as communication stays at the forfront. They have dated 3 years already so they should know somewhat, what they are getting into.

We’re all for traditional marriage here, right? One man, one woman...married not just shacking up...right?
Well, I married my wife when I was 22 and she was 19. We are still married 30+ years later. (And for those that claim that times were *differnt* then, we both grew up in Ann Arbor, MI — which was then so far ahead of the rest of the nation in progressive attitude as to resemble Texas of 2012.)
And their relationship goes back three or so years (which was about as long as my wife and mine when we married). Hope their marriage lasts as long and is as happy as mine.
I could not care less what she does if I tried.
There’s hope, since they’ve already spent years together. Hopefully this relationship will help her through the post-child-star period of her life.
