Two American men, a high-profile dancer & a teenage musician, have been arrested by Tokyo police investigating the murder of an Irish student apparently strangled to death in a luxury Tokyo hotel. Nicola Furlong, 21, was found dead in the early hours of Thursday morning after she attended a Nicki Minaj concert with a female friend, also a 21-year-old Irish student.Dancer James Blackston, 23, and a 19-year-old male musician, who has not been identified by police, have been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting Ms Furlong's friend in a taxi on the way to the hotel. Police are investigating whether the two men plied the two women with alcohol or spiked their drinks before taking them to the Keio Plaza in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo after the concert. Ms Furlong was found unconscious in a room after another guest alerted staff to a loud noise. The two men were arrested at the shortly afterwards by officers, the Independent reported. A spokesperson for Tokyo Metropolitan Police said of the alleged sexual attack on Ms Furlong's friend: 'These two men allegedly took advantage of a female unable to resist due to the fact she was in a comatose state from a highly alcoholic beverage. 'On a taxi ride between Shibuya and Shinjuku they took advantage of a woman by touching her body. As that is an indecent act, they have been charged with quasi forcible indecency.' State Department officials confirmed the arrests. It is believed the 19-year-old, identified by some reports as Larry Perry, was with Ms Furlong when she was found, Kyodo News reported. The death came just hours after the two women, who were both studying in Japan, attended the Nicki Minaj concert in Tokyo, reports claiming that they missed their last train home.

I for one think the crimes of horrendous Americans committed overseas in generally peaceful countries who are our allies, should be top news, front and center, and part of a SHAME campaign. Was stationed in Korea. As it was explained to me, Korean prisons don’t generally provide meals, that is the responsibility of the prisoner’s family/friends. This strikes me as a sensible policy. Heck, it may have been common practice in America at one time.

Japan is pretty strict about letting foreigners with criminal convictions into the country, even actors and musicians. The two may not have had a criminal record.

The rumor making the rounds in Tokyo on this case is that Attorney General Holder's office, along with the State Dept. have asked the US Govt. to make an outreach to the Government of Japan, to ask them to play the crime down for the sake of "US-Japan" relations and that it is a touchy news story, and that they will both benefit by having it toned down. Will be interesting to see if the Japanese media follows suit. I doubt it. Also, my predition: Expect either Revs. Jackson or Sharpton in town here (Tokyo) very soon to try for a "rescue of the brothers", though that will be like butting into a brick wall with strict Japanese authorities and these guy's asses are now in the custody of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and the Ministry of Justice on Japanese soil under Japanese law. No visiting, rabble rousing, shakedown artist American community organizer is going to have much power over that in Tokyo. Generally they are rather independent and somewhat paparazzi-ist, so I doubt they can keep too much of a lid on this, like they might be able to do back stateside. Thing is, probably most of the stories and gory details and trial particulars, will come out only in Japanese. CNN is not going to send a reporter to cover this one 24/7. Usually they only do this with an anti-American and/or left wing government that they can negotiate with to poke America in the eye. I don't see a way they can stab America in the back over this, and they won't go over there on the hope they can do something, and then fail. The only way they will go is if Obama has already negotiated a fix.

But they can't just be sent over here and let free, they are accused of murder. They will either have to be put on trial there, and serve their sentence in Japan or in the USA. And the fact that the girls are Irish, not US or Japanese, complicates things as well, but might favor them being sent over here to serve their sentence, since neither the perpetrator or the victim were Japanese.
