We have altered this picture from Lake Norman High School's yearbook...so you can't see the young woman's face...or the area, causing so much controversy.
The school district says the girl was 18-years-old. She's sitting with last year's graduating class...smiling, dressed in her cap and gown and her legs are open.
One mom, who didn't want her face shown, says she believes the student is exposing her genitals on purpose.
"When it was brought to my attention from my child that, was the first thing. I was appalled! I was like, 'oh my God, this is exactly what it is," said the mom.
Her children told her, as soon as the yearbook came out...everyone in school knew.
"It was going all over the school. In every block, I think people were texting each other turn to page 14," said the mom.

I remember a somewhat disturbed girl from my HS days. She thought the world both wanted and deserved a good look at her
crotch... she was always attempting to sit in such a way as to give an unobstructed view. It became tiresome and she came to no good end :-(

Okay, as someone who regularly has to proof images and copy I am often amazed at what people do not notice until it’s too late. Reminds me of the Elaine’s Card episode of Seinfeld. Anyway, once had an ad submitted with a pro photo taken of a tween girl for a theatrical playbill. You could see the girl’s crotch (panties). I was very surprised that apparently neither the photographer nor the family had noticed. If you are choosing photos for publication and presumably for your portfolio/audition submissions, you better look at more than the face!
I agree with the staff person that said you may not be seeing what you think you are seeing- but it doesn’t matter if it is or it isn’t, if that’s what people think when they see it.
I will also add that nowadays people seem blissfully unaware of what body parts are hanging out here and there. When I was growing up having a bra strap showing was a no-no...now it seems purposeful, or people just don’t care they are slovenly.

It's nothing new. Paris and Britney were hardly the first. I can recall a couple of girls who proudly went 'commando' back when I was in high school (and Reagan was in the White House).
It gained momentum around the time that Madonna started wearing her underwear on the outside.
Can only ‘why’ this picture allowed in Yearbook. . .or not ‘otherwise’ altered. A degrading ‘moment in time’; forever captured ‘in time’ and a very bad joke; made at the expense of her ‘fellow students’.
‘That said’. ..there is always ‘pen/marker’ to take care of pic, if offended. But maybe the ‘buzz’ better. Am wondering about the ‘girl in question. . .

I can tell by the smirk on her face for one. Also the magazine she is holding. I could not see that with the black tape. She was holding it before the pic was taken so no adults could see what she was up too. I had wondered why no teachers or the photographer had caught on during this photo now I see why. She lifted up the magazine just in time for the picture to be snapped then lowered it again. Clever girl.
Wonder what her kids will think when they see it?
I’d like to show you my junior high yearbook and some of the stuff the teacher who edited that book missed! Don’t get me wrong too “Mrs. Smith” was stern when it came to editing out the pranks boys pulled in group pictures but some still got past her. It was hard to go through thousands of pics and get every prank but Mrs. Smith did her best. I promise you Mrs. Smith would have not been amused over this!
This high school doesn’t have an adult yearbook advisor who can nix which pix go into the yearbook or not? I’d be more than a little furious if it were my kid’s school. 20, 30, 50 years from now that yearbook is going to be part of their history.

What would lead her to WANT to do something like that, exposing herself to her entire school, teachers, and parents who look at the yearbook? Thanks to the interwebs, this picture will be out there and will likely be seen by students at wherever she is choosing to go to college and also could even be seen by companies that may consider hiring her in the future. Disgusting. Her parents must be so proud.

Looking at the wider group pic from the news clip that showed a bigger group of students, no one seemed to be looking at the camera. It doesn’t appear to be a posed group photo but rather a random shot by the photographer while the graduation or other ceremony was going on. If this is the case, the girl may simply be a victim of her own decision to go commando. However, that decision indicates she is probably the type of girl who doesn’t care who sees what.
Guilty! When I had a pool I used to like to float around on a chair/raft thing. Almost everytime I did one of the neighbor ladies would stop over in her swimsuit but rarely get in the pool. She just followed me around talking with me.
Later Mrs p6 let me in that all the neighbor gals used to talk about how I floated around wearing my baggies and never realized you could see up my leg past Columbus and all the way to Cleveland!
I don’t have a pool and I don’t have baggies but I do wear kilts commando sometimes. When I do I make sure I am....covered.
