I need a rose expert. My Joseph’s Coat rose has reverted to being a wild rose red. Does anyone know what would make that happen?

If this was a grafted plant, it means that the top plant died and the rootstock is now growing canes.

Thank you!
In our last move, I brought the rose with me. We definitley do not live in rose country, (hot, high winds, worst soil and water on the face of the earth). It has survived, but has lost it’s beauty.
I’m sure your reply is correct, and very interesting!
