Olympian Lolo Jones is one of the best hurdlers in the world. She's athletic, she's attractive, she's fit ... and as she recently stated on Twitter, she's a virgin. The 29-year-old Jones, who has won gold medals at the World Indoor Championships twice, but is still searching for her first Olympic gold medal, openly discussed her virginity on HBO's "Real Sports," in an episode that airs on Tuesday night.
"It's just something, a gift I want to give to my husband," she told Mary Carillo. "But please understand: This journey has been hard. It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college.
"I've been tempted. I've had guys tell me 'If you have sex it will help you run faster.' I was like 'I do want this gold medal, but not yet. I do want to be married.'" Jones says she's turned to Twitter to fulfill her dating life, which is always a risky proposition.
"I'm waiting for the day where somebody totally tricks me with their Twitter picture ... they're using like an Abercrombie model, I show up on the date and it's like somebody from 'The Biggest Loser.'"
Yes, that means if you follow Lolo on Twitter (@lolojones), you might actually have a chance to date her.
Let's just hope her Twitter dates have turned out better than Chad Ochocinco's.

How absolutely beautiful. That photograph is art. What a splendid gift she’s going to be giving her husband. I hope the man she chooses will merit this honor.
She and Tebow should get together. Can you just imagine what kind of kids those two would have? Wow.
What a stupid story. Why is EVERYTHING about sex, or not having sex, or same sex, or contraception due to sex, or abortions due to sex.
The woman is one of the best athletes in the world...and this is the best we can do? Shame on this reporter.
Lolo has a fantastic story that most should hear. Born in to extreme poverty. Broke some laws in order to survive. Became a star athlete and now an Olympian. A great role model for many disadvantaged kids. She is a class act.
For any Freepers watching the olympics: this gal is worth getting excited about. Great story,great person,and dearly loves her country where all things are possible.

The photo of her as a nude was absolutely 100 percent beautiful art. It showed the magnificence of her body without being lewd or debasing of the lady. That was a damn good photo.

It is a shame that the norms have changed so much, and for the worse.
It is pretty hard to get to know and fall in true love with someone when you have done the most intimate thing a man and woman can do after the first date. It sure makes it hard for a relationship to last as sex really does get in the way of getting to know someone.

You know that saying “there’s someone for everyone”? I don’t buy it. I don’t buy into that “soulmate” thing either.

Way off with that comment. Kids look up to athletes and what they stand for.
How many well known athletes make a stand on purity like she is doing? Guarantee that stance doesn't help her career in this world.

OK. Maybe she’s a demure young maiden who just likes to pose for nude publicity photgraphs; but, then again, maybe she’s an attention whore.

Powers....I love sex. And I enjoy it with my wife.
But, in my misguided youth, I found many women who were waiting and it did not affect a courtship. As I used to say, there is more than way to skin a cat.
I am sure if I met you now, as long as you did not act like an all out prude, there would be no running for the hills.
My point is that it seems that the world is concerned with everyone elses sex life. And, even people who have accomplished so much more in their lives—such as this woman. I cannot imagine talking to her about her virginity.
I would be more impressed with her work out schedule, her training techniques and her journey to becoming a world class athlete.
The whole sex thing is just a simple, silly, distraction from a media that has absolutely no idea of how to do an interview.
