Disco? I don’t think so.

Take your negativity someplace else.

Even death is scared of Keith Richards.

It seems that freepdom hates disco...maybe it's because disco in and around NYC was not the disco you saw in Topeka or Harlan County or San diego.

But, for me, disco was big fun...you got dressed up (sort of), went to a club and danced with pretty girls you didn't know and would never see again.

It always confused me that some guys think that dancing with girls is somehow gay.

Question to some famous guy - "What do women want?"

Answer - "Women want to dance."

I’ll be sure to add Jim Croce to my next music death rant. I agree that the 1970s was the best era for pop music. I miss the days when I could turn on the radio and hear all genres of music blended together. Mostly happy, upbeat music too. There is still good music being made but you don’t hear it on radio anymore.

Not all of us hate disco. Seems there are always people who have to make some remark about how they at least didn’t like it. Happened the other day.

In fact, while I’m sorry another Gibb died, I’m a bit surprised more wasn’t said about Donna. She was in herself a true icon, not just having several hits but being a mainstay. Indeed a queen not just of disco but of the era, 1 of the people you HAVE to know because you just couldn’t avoid it. It seems more has been put on this thread than on Donna’s several combined! :-)

Jerry Garcia, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rick Danko just a few more to the list. BB King is getting up in age and quite heavyset. Doc Watson got some miles on himself too. No one lives forever on this earth and very few even make it past 90 no less. Take Jesus with you now and forever.

I would argue that in actuality there is more good music being made now than in the decades of our youth.

What has happened though, is that Record companies have lost control of the distribution of music.
With that loss, they lost the ability to shoehorn music listening into a few hundred major acts.

Music has fragmented, and diversified.

It won't be that people will have no good music to look back on, it will simply bee that they won't look back on the same good music.

Everybody is now like that weird kid in the seventies that knew who all the local blues players were.
