The Horrible Jobs Record Of The GOP's Favorite Governor
Business Insider ^ | 05/14/2012 | Joe Weisenthal

Posted on 05/14/2012 8:23:09 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is the GOPs favorite governor for two reasons.

1) He's taken on public sector unions/workers/pensions.

2) He's hated by public sector unions/workers, which means he gets brownie points for being disliked by the right people.

It's just too bad that from an economic standpoint, he's not a good governor.

Menzie Chinn at Econbrowser takes a look at his record on private sector job creation, and it turns out that not only is he well behind his own goals, he's just generally bad at it.

This chart showing Wiscon's actual record of job creation vs. his stated goals when he took office is telling.

Got that? Not only is Walker's record on private payroll employment far below his stated goal (it's not even close) but he's barely up since the beginning of 2011, when he took office.

That might be forgivable if private payrolls were doing badly overall over the last 16 months, but in fact the national scene is much different: Private payrolls are doing well, while state and local layoffs (like the ones pushed by Walker and his fellow Republican governors) are bringing down the headline numbers.

Anyway, just to make things clearer, here's a look at total employment in Wisconsin (red line) vs. total national employment (blue line) since the beginning of 2011, when Walker took office.

It's pretty clear that Wisconsin is lagging badly under his tenure.

This looks similar to the scene in the UK, where the economy started trailing off badly once David Cameron took office with a push for austerity.

B.S.!

There are more jobs today than when Walker took over, that’s the bottom line.

We would be lucky if Walker actually WERE the GOP’s “favorite governor”. In truth, most of the e-GOP hates him as much as the libs do.

Things would be far worse w/o walker. Higher taxes, more political cash for union goons, more fearful businesses.

If job growth is slow, it is because the hornets’ nest has been disturbed. The only way out, is through the storm.

I believe this is selected parts of a big picture...

Look at the number of persons on the vertical side...150 to 3K in an entire state does not seem a large enough section to create the very short space shown for the time frame.

Imagine “stretching” out these charts and seeing the rolling curves not sharp dips. Maybe they are even seasonal...who can tell from this? Remember the funhouse mirrors for tall and wide fun?

NUMBERS CAN LIE...It is all presentation!

Joe is an asshat. Taxes and unemployment are down in Wisconsin, the union thugs are losing, and all this is being done despite Walker being a target of the kooks since the day he won election.

Joe. Judging by your article Scott Walker has been kicking some major SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT COMMIE UNION SUPPORTING REAR ENDS. I will be sending him some out state contributions so he can KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Maybe ol’ Joe has mistaken Gov Walker for Jerry Brown, who knows.

Since when is it the government’s job to “create” jobs? At best, they can refrain from destroying them by trimming their own fat and getting rid of onerous taxes and regulations. Looks to me like Walker’s record is superior to that of governors who actively drive jobs out of their states, like Jerry Brown et al. Not to mention the overall job-killing policies of the Hussein Administration.

If there are problems with jobs being created, I throw it mainly on the recall effort.

Businesses do not want to uproot themselves here if they believe in a month or two, a democrat governor who promises to turn things back to the way it was under Doyle.

I think when Walker wins the recall, we will begin to see an upturn in jobs because more places from out of state that are far, far worse than us - michigan, illinois, and minnesota, will start up their plans to come here to a more business-friendly state.

"Business Insider" is not even RINO. It's just your ordinary leftie website. It's cited here a lot. Not sure why.

There are 3 or 4 individuals on here (you know who you are) that insist on posting crap from this site on a daily basis.

Not sure what their motives are but I have my suspicions.

Yeah, I noticed that too, it seems they use the word "Business" to smokescreen their leftist bias.
