Duchess of Cambridge 'has potential to be the new Jackie O', says Amanda Wakeley
Telegraph UK ^

Amanda Wakeley said the Duchess had become such a powerful trend-setter, particularly in the US, that she bore comparison with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the former wife of President John F Kennedy.

“I think she really has the potential to become a modern-day Jackie O,” she said. “She has a big impact on fashion. It always amuses me how much more, despite her being British, how much more the impact is in America.

“Whatever she chooses to wear is neat and quite youthful and it’s always occasion appropriate and that’s hard. This is a big role that she has and she always seems to get it right.”

Who in blazes is Amanda “what’s her name?”

Another Jackie O? I don’t think that is a compliment.

She just married Prince "what's his name". :-)

And they are right - she can be a fashion trendsetting like Jackie O was in her day way better than the Wookie, no matter how hard the MSM trys to make her be one.

The few times I have seen pictures or video clips of her, she is dressed very elegant and tasteful. She also seems to have manners and handles the high protocol lifesyle of a royal pretty well so far.

Oh Oh! Blackie-O isn’t going to be happy about that.

So she has the potential to be a low IQ, pliant, trophy-wife for a corrupt political clan looking to bolster their photographic image for political campaigns?

got it!

You sure do have a nasty post about a kid, who is trying to be the wife of a high profile person. She hasn’t done one thing to deserve this kind of treatment. Leave her alone and let her live her life.

I think the diss was on Jackie, not the Duchess. (Funny - I was up working and saw the wedding and it was great. But I can’t remember her name!)

I’m hanging around this thread though - waiting for photos of her and her sister!

I'm not so sure. My impression has been that she's a media-created image. She's nice looking but I haven't noticed any "presence" or charisma about her.

I'm no fan of Jackie O. but she had something about her.

I am so tired of the comparisons of women to Jackie O. I will agree that she was fashionable, attractive, intelligent, and a lady. That is all true. But her days are long over. Please let the women in the White House, and wives of other leaders be who they are in their own right, without trying to make them some sort of looks-like/acts-like-Jackie doll.

It is demeaning to The Duchess of Cambridge to not be allowed to be admired for her own grace, deportment, dignity and flawless sense of style, and not because she reminds anyone of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. It is not a compliment to her at all.

And, certainly, it is demeaning to the memory of Jackie, when someone like Michelle is compared to her. Michelle Obama has no grace, her style is modeled after the street walkers in Chicago, her clothes give us a vulgar view of her body parts, and she is anything but ladylike.

For goodness sake, we need to stop this constant comparison. These women are who they are, for better or worse. Must they always be compared to a memory?

Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis would be eighty-three this year.

Can we stop comparing women of today to her? It’s time to give it a rest.
