On Hannity's show "Hannity's America," last night I could swear that near the end of his show he asked those on the invited panel "Is this Reagan versus Carter?"
Did anyone watch his show last night and hear this, as he said this pretty fast?
As if Romney is Reagan.
Obama is Carter, but Romney is no Reagan. Romney is a Rinocrat.
Just wondering and asking a question...
I don’t see him coming out and saying that.. but I don’t know. I’ve been out of my car the last two days and I’ve missed his show. He’s stayed relatively neutral on the republican candidates thus far.
Wonder how much the Romney campaign is paying Hannity.
No. It’s Stalin vs. Trotsky.
Carter vs Kennedy.
Well, Obama is no Carter either. I believe Jimmy Carter loves his country, though he is very misguided. Deep down, Obama hates America.
Not having heard the program, I would guess he means in terms of landslide, not idealogy. At least I HOPE that’s what he means, cuz Romney is no Reagan.
But I hope it IS a landslide. See tagline.
Well, there are some few Romney Republicans who whore themselves out for free.
Its the shape-shifter versus the borg.
Did Bain Capital buy Clear Channel? Hmmm?
If so, did Hannity, Beck, Rush, etc, remind/say to listners (say within the first month of Romney tossing his hat in the ring) anything about this?
And with Hannity, you get what you pay for.
Dole vs. Carter, more like.
Exciting, huh?
No? Same here.
This is FORD vs. Carter.
And we all know how THAT ended up.
I haven’t seen any pollster (be it Dem, GOP or one ideologically independent) that has projected a landslide for Romney. They all seem to say it is going to be a close election, and that Romney might pick up (take away from Obama) Pennsylvania and Wisconsin/Michigan at best.
Well, if I was as rich as them, id stand on principle. I know they are entertainers, and would probably lose listeners. I just haven’t heard Sean endorse anyone.
Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark.
Hannity has ALWAYS favored the most liberal GOP candidate running.
I thought it was Bob Dull. /s
Dull was as exciting as Romney is now. Maybe moreso.
And some who simply don't have the ability to see the differences.
I’m sure you’re right. Dang. ABO
Oh, I can see the differences. For example, Romney is the most successful liberal governor in history, and Obama is the most successful liberal [alleged] president in history. That's a shade of difference.
So what's your point?
No, this is White Cater against Black Carter
Which ain’t much.
I didn't hear it, so I can't help you. But, have to say, in no way whatsoever is this Reagan versus Carter.
Reagan won by an enormous landslide - Romney will likely lose to Obama, simply because HE IS NOWHERE NEAR REAGAN - in fact he is the polar opposite of Reagan.
Democrats in the media (90+%) generally talk up their candidate's chances. If their projections had held up, we would have had a solid block of Democratic presidents in the last 50 years.
Hannity is a dope and a phony.
He said so himself, actually.
The Romney Republican's natural constituency.
Memo to Mitt Romney: You’re no Ronald Reagan.
We have our Carter and Anderson clones and are now awaiting the Reagan candidate to emerge.
Same here. Romney is not Reagan, but he IS better than our Dear Leader.
Now, as I slip on my flame-retardant undergarments, let me say that the speech Romney gave last night in New Hampshire was downright inspiring. After nearly four years of speeches filled with veiled hints of racism, imperialism, (insert -ism here), it was so nice to hear someone singing the praises of this wonderful country. Say what you will about Romney, he loves America. Barack Hussein Obama despises this country.
I do, the social conservatives pushed Carter over the top and saddled the rest of us with a miserable four years. From all of posts on FR, they might do it again.

This youtube is a “Best of” Reagan in his debates with Carter. A lot (all?) of it is just like today.
“Americans keep getting told that we have an Energy problem. When we only use 1/8 of the coal available to us and 22,000 miners are out of work. When nuclear plants aren’t finished because it takes twice as long to meet the government rules than in Japan or Western Europe. That is not an energy problem - that is a GOVERNMENT problem”
Taxes, government waste, excessive regulations, minimum wages, etc.
Romney is no Reagan, Obama is no Carter..
Carter spread malaise all over America.. and then spat on it..
Obama polarized America, then defecated on it..
You ARE a brave soul, aren’t you? :)
That's Hannity. Give him a little while; he'll be slobbering all over Mitt. I know he can't wait.
Hannity is a progressive. He is a big government pushing rino.
Perhaps if you weren’t such an ass, you’d have known I was not talking about you - I was referring to the subject of the thread. Sorry your hatred got in the way of your reading comprehension. Please note that other posters knew EXACTLY who I was referring to.
I agree. Obama hates America whereas Mitt couldn't care less about America. It's not the same thing, but the results are.
Oh yes, I’m sure they all know. /s
Read post 38 and, if possible, learn.
I was actually agreeing with your point, and demonstrating how a certain host would not see the vast differences between Reagan and Romney. But don’t worry, I’ll never build on your point again. Which won’t be hard, so few being worthy to begin with.
Okay. I’ll apologize for jumping to conclusions if you’ll admit that you could have been clearer, especially in this political environment.
The question could be interpreted in such a way as to absurd by noting the Romney is no Reagan, being at best an American analogue of a British “Wet” Tory, though surely worse on social issues, and possibly better on some aspects of economic issues.
Of course, it might also be interpreted in a way which is not absurd by noting that Obama is no Carter, but rather an actively anti-American, post-colonialist, multiculturalist Red-diaper baby (albeit with elements of Carter-style incompetence), and so far left that although Romney too far left for the comfort of FReepers, he is enough to the right of Obama that the analogy works.
I think there are alot of similarities. You have a dem running for re-election in a stagnate/bad economy who has made it clear he’s going to go super negative to win re-election. A really good book about the 1980 election is Craig Shirley’s book Rendevous With Destiny.
The interesting thing about Romney is that Mormons think he is the fulfillment of a Mormon prophesy about a Mormon becoming President and saving the Constitution. If Romney thinks he is that man he is suppose to concentrate on saving the Constitution, which seems quite different than the direction he has been heading.
