Do what you like. Of course, not getting to the uncontrolled fire part is the best solution. ;)

A true gentleman hero! Thank you for sharing this!
You were a good scout.

Good job.
Every sentient should be able to do the same.

I have 6 at various locations on each floor.
The one in the kitchen is a Halon extinguisher so it won't make such a mess with all the white stuff. I wish I had more of those.
Years ago as a poor broke student, i had a neighbor run out screaming FIRE. Smoking was rolling everywhere through open doors and windows.
Fortunately, the burning oil was still in the frying pan. I was able to open the stove drawer, grab a cookie sheet and put it over the skillet. In 10 seconds it was done.
Then the adrenalin rush hit.
Today’s been a day worth living; I learned something.
Oooh, are you naive. She was the one who was prepared and knew just what would happen when she staged the fire. Woo Hoo! No pants! Cheap thrill!!!
Now I know who to call. Just this afternoon, I nearly had a kitchen stove fire. I’d taken the cover off to clean the clock and ZAP!!! It even blew the breaker. The worst part was thinking how to pay for a new stove. Knock on wood, all is fine... so far.
I know where the fire extinguisher is and it’s covered in cobwebs. Out here, the house would be smoldering ashes by the time the FD got here. The two house fires around here were total loses. The only reason to call is to protect the neighbors.
And generally, it's just that easy. If you have the training. And the mindset to use it when stuff happens.
Some folks don't have the training. Some folks don't have the mindset. They panic. Things get worse.
Preparation and training help.
I'm with you on the adrenal rush. Fortunately, I only have one kidney and associated gland, so it doesn't hit as hard as when I was younger and whole.

It's good to learn. And I have so much to learn.

Baking soda has always been beside the stove. That was also Lesson #1 for my 4-H kids.
She was so frazzled that she missed it. I could have been wearing a tutu for all she knew. ;)
She told me later of her disappointment. And I explained that since I hadn't starched and ironed my wrinkled self, she didn't miss anything but the projectile vomiting.

Many years ago , I had a fire in my dishwasher.
Electrical fire in the motor.
Husband told me to call 911. I did.
Then he told me to go pull the main power switch to the whole house.
It was out by the time I got out of the basement.
He used plain water.
No electricity, it’s just a plain fire.
Fire dept showed up.. Pulled it out...cut all the wires, trampled mud all over the house.
I wasn’t even late for work.
I still wash dishes by hand 98% of the time.
That's why for formal evening wear, I always go with strapless and wear flats. I'm tall enough not to need heels. ;)
Last night of course, was casual night. Very casual. Besides, it helps to air things out.
