Doomsday Pictures, Images and Photos I voted - Something Else. If the 20th century is to serve as an accurate predictor of the 21st century, more people met early deaths in the 1900s by their own governments than from anything else.

Where is alien contact?

Also, I know what a singularity is, but I have to look up what “the singularity” means.

The entire movie “Idiocracy” + Brave New World + 1984 = Obama second term

“The Singularity” used here refers to the belief popularized by writer Ray Kurzweil in his book “The Singularity is Near” that at some future point in time Robot intelligence will exceed human intelligence (probably around 2045 AD.) and they will take over the reins of civilization. Hope that helps; if still curious get the book published by Viking.

I wish there was another choice on the list. I remember reading a science fiction novel when I was in junior high.
It was about the massive amount of moron inhabitants of earth that were ruled by a few at the top. Everyone had been dumbed down.
Wish I could remember the author and title.
I guess I forgot, because it really WAS science fiction back then to me.
I was looking forward to a wonderful future in THIS country and couldn’t imagine something like that happening, even in the FAR future.

Both are excellent choices I think. And both scenarios are very well advanced. I think we should toss in a little “Canticle for Liebowitz” as well. We’re entering a new Dark Age, not from a nuclear apocalypse (yet), but from a general loss of respect for the type of learning that makes cultures rich, vibrant and respectful of Universally Important Things.

Sounds like “Idiocracy” if the few rulers at the top were slso morons.

Possibly this story by C. M. Kornbluth.

I vote for moon landing, a real one, not one faked on a historic (Fatsy Arbuckle, Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell and others) Burbank movie lot.
