New book claims Fidel Castro knew about Kennedy assassination plot beforehand

A new book by an ex-CIA spook claims that Cuban dictator Fidel Castro knew about Lee Harvey Oswald's plot to assassinate President John F. Kennedy and did nothing to stop it.

Author Brian Latell was the agency's former national intelligence officer for Latin America and is now a senior research associate in Cuban American studies at the University of Miami.

In the upcoming volume, "Castro's Secrets: The CIA and Cuba's Intelligence Machine," Latell writes that on Nov. 22 1963, Castro ordered his intelligence officers in Havana to drop their normal responsibilities and pay close attention to communications coming out of Texas — "any little detail small detail from Texas," The Miami Herald reported.

Latell also writes that Oswald became frustrated after Cuban embassy officials denied his attempts to travel there, and told Cuban intelligence officials he would kill Kennedy to prove his allegiance to Castro and the communists.

it’s an easy shot, and even easier with a scope. Have you even been there?

Yes, I've been there several times. What has always struck me about Dealey Plaza; what a good place to ambush someone, there is high ground all around.

I don't know who was responsible; the mafia, Fidel, LBJ, the CIA, the bankers or Oswald.

The truth will not been known for a long long time

Fact: Those shots have never been duplicated in the 6,7 second timeframe on a moving target; the FBI tried for years.

Especially given that Oswald “used” an $18 rifle with a misaligned scope.

Sorry, those are facts.

No offense, but CASE CLOSED is a piece of crap. I have read over a hundred books on the topic...and Posner simply ignores or whitewashes evidence that does not fit his narrative.

Castro was speaking with an emissary of the 35th president when he received the news--he was stunned, remarking, "This is very bad."

The next day his 12,445-word speech made it clear he dismissed the use of Oswald as the patsy as a cover for a reactionary operation.

His comments about CIA and FBI are prescient.

Oswald was seen in the lunchroom just prior, and on the second floor just after by Truly and Baker.

The Dallas Police paraffin test for Oswald's cheek was negative for gunshot residue.

The test was confirmed by the Atomic Energy Commission's Oak Ridge Laboratory which also tested seven men who in fact fired a Mannlicher-Carcano and all seven tested positive for the barium and antimony.

This is in Gerald D. McKnight, Breach of Trust: How the Warren Commission Failed the Nation and Why, 2005.

Approaching the 50th anniversary, Operation Mockingbird is still extant, and Obama is no more willing than Bush to have the CIA release its files on George Joannides.

Joannides ran DRE at the time of the assassination, and kept the HSCA from seeing CIA files during the investigation's tenure.

Though that government panel's chief Robert Blakey did state a conspiracy existed.

The tense used was inaccurate.

Fact: I saw it done on tv.
Fact: Even barring that I could do it this very second with my eyes closed. Are you saying it’s impossible to fire 3 shots in 6.7 secs with a BA rifle and hit a nearby target?
Liberals talk like that cause they think a .38 detective’s special is an AK47, but on this forum?

No offense...but BS.

Kennedy got hit from his right front. Kenny O’Donnell was in the car behind him and told that to the FBI...they told him “not to make trouble”...and he changed his story.

RFK was told by Hoover on Saturday morning after the Friday hit...that Operation Mongoose had been turned on his brother. After hearing that...RFK shut down any conspiracy talk by Kennedy friends...because of his brother’s memory.

RFK promised to reopen the case after he became POTUS. See how that worked out.

I hate to burst anyone’s balloon...but Oswald did not fire a shot on that day.

Why then did Oswald carry the package in (curtain rods he said) to work that day? Also Oswald also shot officer JD Tipett as well in his later escape attempt. The creep was guilty as sin.

Was his analysis of the “ear” witness accounts, and his debunking of the magic bullet theory, and his analysis of the eye-witness accounts crap?

Come on people...the one absolute fact that we know about the Kennedy assassination is that.....

WE WILL NEVER KNOW.

....most of the people who actually planned and carried out the assassination are probably dead by now..

..the ones that are still alive are not talking or are "untouchable" like Castro.

I would like to capture Castro and do some real torture on him to see if he had anything to do with killing Kennedy.

...as for me, the thing that makes the most sense is that someone in the Federal Reserve System had Kennedy eliminated.

Kennedy was in favor of issuing "United States Notes" directly out of the US treasury which would have cut the Fed out of the money system......

....and if they are cut out of the system, that means that they are not being "paid", and that was unacceptable..so Kennedy had to go.

....United States Notes as far as I know, are still an option for the US, but note:

...NOBODY in our government has tried the option since Kennedy tried it....

....but alas, as I said,..we will never know because ANYONE STILL ALIVE who knows for sure is not talking....

...krap nobody would believe it anyway, even if there were pictures and videos and confessions....

....there are people right now who "know for sure" that nobody went to the Moon, and that 9-11 was an "inside job" ....

A fat, dumb, happy bureaucrat killed him??? Because said bureaucrat feared for his job? I work for the G, and I can tell you (indeed, anybody on Earth can tell) you that the chances of a big-dog bureaucrat losing his job because his department or agecny or branch disappears is astonishingly close to zero. You don’t know this?

You do realize that your theory (president gets popped because of an “idea”) is a bit loony. Every pres has a million ideas, each and every single one of which will please tens of millions AND displease tens of millions. Why aren’t they all dead by assassination?

Or maybe just some crazed little leftist commie schnook named Oswald climbed up to the 6th floor and shot his rifle at the president that day all by himself. Doesn’t make for good conspiracy drama but maybe thats what really happened and nothing more.

If you ever get the time, here is WFAA’s live broadcast from that weekend in 57 parts. What is striking they continually say it was a Mauser for well over 24 hrs after the assassination. Also, they keep showing a policeman holding the gun that killed Tippit at the time Oswald was being arrested. And always remember, eye-witness accounts are the most accurate moments after the crime.

Oswald belonged to the ‘Fair Play for Cuba Committee’ (as did Madalyn Murray for those old enough to remember who she was) so it’s very likely that Castro’s spies knew who he was.

All the same it appears that both the Russians and the Cubans were suspicious of Oswald, thinking he was a bit crazy; so while the Cubans may well have known of Oswald boasting that he intended to kill Kennedy it’s not likely that they had anything to do with him actually carrying it out.

It’s funny but we do know that the Russians had a grudging respect for Kennedy and regretted his death. Our deepest-cover spy was in Moscow meeting with the politburo and he witnessed their reaction to JFK’s assassination. They were as fixated on the news as we were here and they were trying to figure out who could have killed Kennedy.

That deep cover spy was Morris Childs, the second in command of the CPUSA, and his story is told by John Barron in ‘Operation SOLO: the FBI’s man in the Kremlin’ a book well worth reading. In 1987 Childs was awarded the first Presidential Medal of Freedom by Ronald Reagan.

William F. Buckley to the contrary notwithstanding, Lee Oswald was an operative of ONI, FBI and CIA.

Mr. Buckley, author of the Sharon Statement the founding document of the Young Americans for Freedom for whom I campaigned for Goldwater did himself work for the CIA.

Lee Oswald was seen in Dallas the summer of 1963 with David Atlee Phillips the once-hemisphere director for the CIA by none other than the Alpha 66 tool of Phillips, Antonio Veciana, as told to Gaeton Fonzi chief investigator for the House Select Committee on Assassination (See Fonzi, The Last Investigation, 1993).

Oswald's last call was Saturday night to John Hurt in North Carolina, his ONI handler.

He was manipulated by CIA asset George DeMohrenschildt at the behest of CIA Domestic Contacts officer J. Walton Moore.

With the help of Guy Banister and David Atlee Phillips, Lee Oswald was used to run an operation on the Fair Play for Cuba Committee.

A curious name known so well to Jack Ruby, that he corrected a reporter at the Friday night police station press conference.

A legend was created using the particular skills of such intelligence professionals as counterintelligence director James Jesus Angleton (see John Newman, Oswald and the CIA, 1995/2008).

Oswald’s murder of Officer Tippit in front of 12 witnesses less than an hour after Kennedy’s assassination is something that always gets ignored.

Most people who buy into the conspiracy explanation have never heard of Tippit. And the conspiracy spinners who do know about him have no explanation for why Oswald murdered him.

There are three groups that seem to be those with a credible motivation and the means to carry out a Presidential assassination. They are:

The Castro regime, specifically Fidel, for the numerous assassination attempts on him. The Kennedy brothers were absolutely determined to eliminate Fidel because of the humiliation of the Bay of Pigs. This was a personal issue to the Kennedy brothers as no one got away with beating let alone ket alone humiliating a Kennedy. There were several real ambuscade shoot out type attempts on Castro, which leaked into the press at the time but have never appeared in later print accounts. Castro, tyrant he is, had a valid feeling is was either that he eliminated JFK or JFK would eliminate him.

So called organized crime or specifically the ‘west side outfit’ from Chicago.
Joseph Kennedy, Sr. Had made a deal with these people before the 1960 election that in return for their complete support in producing the vote in Chicago there would be no undue federal criminal investigatory activities. Unfortunately JSK, Sr suffered a massive incapacitating stroke in Dec 1961 and there was no one to effectively reign in RFK’s anti-racketeering crusade vis-a-vis the Chicago gangsters. To men such as Sam Giancana it was felt they had been double crossed. There is only one way to respond. Strike at the head if the family that had betrayed them, i.e. JFK.

Third is the Ngo family as payback for the events of 1 Nov 1963 in Saigon.

Back off doc....I said that I didn't know, and nobody else does either..

....every "explaination" is just a theory(guess), and my guess is as good as any other guess.

...do a simple Google search (Kennedy and US notes), you will find that issuing US Notes was not just an "idea" at the time.

that was my point nobody knows for sure...

....it could be as simple as the crazed leftist commie LHO taking an "easy" shot.

If his desire was to become notorious, he succeeded, didn't he?
