Before Lipitor went generic I was getting the generic from Canada. Cheaper than my copayments plus, if you buy in quantity (100 of more pills), the pharmacy ships free.

If you’re interested, I’ll give you the link.

That would be great and I have noticed that the cheapest prices are Canada, but I thought it was illegal to purchase from their. Do you use a credit card?

Atorvastatin’s improvement in efficacy over simvastatin is slight. I wouldn’t pay much more for it.

A comparison of atorvastatin, pravastatin and simvastatin, based on their effectiveness against placebos, found that, at commonly prescribed doses, there are no statistically significant differences among agents in reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.[14]^ Zhou Z, Rahme E, Pilote L (2006). “Are statins created equal? Evidence from randomized trials of pravastatin, simvastatin, and atorvastatin for cardiovascular disease prevention”. Am. Heart J. 151 (2): 273–81. doi:10.1016/j.ahj.2005.04.003. PMID 16442888.

Same here for the Canada don’t think that generic has made it onto anyone’s $4 list yet. Or get your doc to give you another statin that is on one of the $4 list or $10 for 3 months that seem to be the rage now. All 4 of my BP meds are on the Walgreens list only 3 of them on everybody elses.

Cut sugar out of your diet and you won’t need statins.

Statins damage your liver and deplete your coenzyme Q10 levels. Please get your liver enzymes checked every 3 months.

I’m with the “get a Rx for a cheaper statin” crowd. Buying medication out-of-country is a crapshoot at best. You may get the medicine, you may get pressed cornstarch, or you may get something worse. Much worse.

“That stuff is horrible for you. Probably give you diabetes..”

*****

My cardiologist said that’s not true. You are most likely to develop diabetes from poor eating habits and no exercise. However, it is true that the liver has to be monitored via blood tests periodically because there is a chance of liver damage. For the record, I’ve been taking dragons for five years now with no problems. In fact, given my weakened heart, I believe Lipitor and other meds have saved my life.

Depends on the pharmacy you are dealing with. The one I use in Canada either sends the meds itself or gets them from western Europe or even the US. No third world countries. And yes, I had a friend who works in a lab test some Plavix I received from this pharmacy and it was legit.

Please get your liver enzymes checked every 3 months.

They stopped doing that several years ago because the actual incidence of liver problems is so low. Sure, they may throw in an LFT order on a serum test for another reason but it's not required. On the CoQ10, it does seem to be essential for me to take the supplements otherwise I get the myalgias.

I have ordered and taken RX from Ranbaxy and another Indian pharmaceutical company with no problems. They are actually working QA harder than the western companies in some ways. Some drugs are much cheaper others about the same.

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience so far, but there are other considerations. Off the top of my head:

1. If Walgreen’s or CVS screws up, you know where to find them. If these guys fornicate the canine, you’d have a harder time.

2. Are these guys going to call your doctor if they find a potential medication interaction? Do they even have your Rx information beyond the atorvastatin?
