I’m a girl, and I hunt
Fox News.com Opinion ^ | March 10, 2012 | Georgia Pellegrini

In Roman mythology, the master of the hunt was the goddess Diana. She was praised for her strength, athletic grace, beauty, and hunting skills.

In Freemasonry, she was a symbol of sensibility and imagination, of poets and artists. Shrines were erected in her honor; stags followed her wherever she went; she ruled the forest and the moon.

I like to think that Diana’s influence has never entirely waned, that hunting was never just about men getting together in the woods. Hunting is for all of us, an extension of our being both humans and animals—our first work and craft, one of our original instincts.

Today I am entirely different than the girl and chef who set out four years ago to learn how to hunt a turkey. There are the obvious differences, such as the fact that I can shoot a deer through the heart without batting an eye, and then promptly take out the innards on the forest floor with only a pocketknife and my bare hands.

I’m a chick and I hunt. I built my own ghillie suit. I have a dad who’s a former Marine pilot, two brothers that served in Iraq, one a chopper pilot the other a weapons officer. I have an uncle who served in Vietnam as a chopper pilot. All have taught me firearms and field craft. I can sneak up to within ten feet of a deer without it knowing I’m there (yes, there’s a trick to it) - my favorite rifle is a Savage in 22-250 and it’s locked in at 500yrds. I’m part of a club that shoots prairie dogs out to 600yds. My second firearm is an M1 carbine. I’m also a pilot. I fly jets.

Speak for yourself, lady. I'm no animal.

If you want to claim you're an animal then consider this...all bitches (female animals in the nominal sense) go into heat (estrus).
When was the last time you went into heat, bitch?

@5 Things I Always Take With Me on a Hunt
I suppose that hunting is a good time to show all of our quirks, be real before Mother Nature about who we are and what we need to be content.

I would be willing to bet that if someone really looks into her they'll find she is into Gaia worship or some such other nonsense.

@Georgia Pellegrini mother nature

I just haven't found the right keywords yet.

@Warm food and Christmas carol singing and advent wreath making… it began with a church potluck down the road. The same church that every member of my family seems to have gone through…in birth, marriage, or death.

What kind of Christian calls themselves an animal?

I’m a chick and I hunt.

All the better for all of us. Outdoorsmanship is as much for the gals as for the guys.

I wish I could match your stalking skills, but my favorite rifle is also 22-250, a heavy barrel hand built, by me, on a WWII 8x57 Mauser action. Beyond sweet.

Makes good reason to win wars, ya can take their guns.

No, I won't lighten up. She made the statement.
Are you an animal subject to nothing more than base instinct instead of rational thinking?

It was a reasonable question in response to your rather stupid statement.

BTW – did you sleep through all your science classes in school or just biology?

No, I didn't. Did you sleep through church or are you an athiest?

No, I didn't. Did you sleep through church or are you an athiest?

First of all, no, I never slept through church or Sunday school but must have still missed the biology lesson that said humans were plants or minerals rather than what we are biologically speaking – animals.

But I get and think and perhaps I understand what you were trying to say – “that we are God’s special creation”, “created in God’s image”, etc. I get that. But then you totally lost me when you called her a “bitch”.

If you want to claim you're an animal then consider this...all bitches (female animals in the nominal sense) go into heat (estrus).

When was the last time you went into heat, bitch?

I have news for you, human women do have a cycle and part of that cycle does include a heighted sense of sexual desire during ovulation, her most fertile time. While not exactly a “heat” as in seen in some other female animals, it is a natural cycle none the less and absent it, the human species would not have procreated as successfully as we did. And we do have like other animals, basic instincts. What makes humans different from the lower animals is not that we are not animals but we have a much higher reasoning – God given or evolution or a combination of both, it still is what it is but we are still animals biologically speaking, admittedly, some more animalistic than others. :)

Then you go further to assume she must be a heathen Gaia worshiper and stand by that absent any proof to the contrary as in:

I would be willing to bet that if someone really looks into her they'll find she is into Gaia worship or some such other nonsense. I just haven't found the right keywords yet.

You admit you have no proof that she’s a Gaia worshiper but then have no problem stating that she must be one because you think she is. Sort of like “But she looks like a witch. And she turned me into a newt. But I got better. Burn her! Burn her anyway”.

Perhaps you slept through church when they were talking about baring false witness and judging lest you be judged?

While I supposed it’s possible for a Gaia worshipper to also be into fishing and hunting (with guns no less) and proudly posts on her blog items like “How to Cook a Deer Heart” and “How to Butcher a Pig” (well at least we know she’s not a Muslim : )) but given that, she’d be about as outcast at the local Gaia worshiper meeting as Ted Nugent. And I say that any woman who posts “Homemade Bacon - It's the stuff of legends. It will make vegetarians swoon” is A-OK in my book.

Yea, she used the dreaded phrase “Mother Nature”. But then a lot of people use that phrase in casual conversation, not all of them Gaia worshippers and many of them “good” Christians not so much unlike yourself (well perhaps not you). Remember the commercial “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”? Surly everyone who enjoyed that commercial or ever used Chiffon Margarine must be Gaia worshippers too according to you. /sarcasm.

Navy Patriot posted a very nice thread about a gal who enjoys hunting and encourages other women to take up the sport, who is also great cook and author who proudly celebrates the great American Pioneer Spirit of self sufficiency and living off the land and also celebrates the traditions of her parents and grandparents and you come here and stink up the thread with your interpretations of Biblical literalisms.

In answer to the second part of your question, no I don’t go to church anymore, in part because of people like you. And BTW athiest is spelled atheist.

First off, it's bearing, not baring. (I can play that game too) Baring is "showing your backside".
Secondly, finish off the verse...
Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

I'm judging her by the statements she's made. You can rationalize your "we're basically animals" but you won't dent my armor.
Humans may be mammals, but humans aren't animals in any way, shape or form and there is nothing that you can say that will convince me otherwise.

...human women do have a cycle...
Yeah, it's called a menstrual cycle and it isn't estrus. In fact, it's a far cry from it, isn't it.
Having hands, fingers and toes doesn't make a monkey a human.
Blah, blah, blah...yada, yada...
Whatever. Reply as you will. It's obvious what you're about. I won't be replying back.
