WASHINGTON (AP) -- More than 70 percent of students involved in school-related arrests or cases referred to law enforcement were Hispanic or African-American, according to a report to be released Tuesday by the Education Department that raises questions about whether students of all races are disciplined evenhandedly in America's schools.
In addition, black students are more than three times more likely than their white peers to be suspended or expelled, according to an early snapshot of the report released to reporters. The findings come from a national collection of civil rights data from 2009-2010 of more than 72,000 schools serving 85 percent of the nation.
The Education Department said it would release more details Tuesday.
"The sad fact is that minority students across America face much harsher discipline than non-minorities, even within the same school," Education Secretary Arne Duncan told reporters.

This is along the lines of the old finding that violent psychopaths were more likely to have been subjected to corporal punishment at a young age. Liberals tend to think that beatings led to mental disorder. Conservatives understand, rightly, that mental disorder manifesting itself in serious misbehavior, led to beatings.
Couldn't have had anything to do with the fact that more than 70 percent of the crimes committed in schools were by Hispanics or African-Americans.
Mark my words - this is the next big Democratic Party project: to allow juvenile miscreants to beat, maim or kill at will, as long as the perps are black or Hispanic.
Lack of respect for authority is in the equation somewhere.
They also commit more serious offenses more often, too.
The same bogus argument could apply to men verses women imprisoned for violent crime:
“98 percent of all people in prison for violent crimes are men. Therefore the laws discriminate against men”.

The 3 to 1 ratio of black crimes closely matches the FBI data showing blacks commit three times as many crimes as whites.
Appears the young blacks are acting as their elders have been doing.
It’s like the old Dilbert cartoon I once saw, where his blowhard boss comes out and says (to paraphrase), “I have some deeply disturbing news. We just got a report back, and it seems that 40%—nearly half— of all sick days are taken on either a Monday or a Friday. It seems like some people are gaming the system in order to get an extra long weekend. We will no longer be accepting calling in sick on Mondays and Fridays.”
In the last picture they mumble to each other, “Do you think it would matter if we point out that that’s 40% of the work week?”

I remember reading a few years back, that Ann Coulter got a lot of flack for pointing out, that minorities DON’T commit a higher per capita number of crimes, when you adjust for singe parent (I belive she said mother) households. When adjusted for single parents households she said they were right on the money with white populations. I believe it was on the view, but don’t remember for certain.
Racist! Just because more Hispanics and Blacks are involved in crimes than whites does NOT allow you to actually, you know report on it. Who the heck do you think you are anyway!

We have one, yes one black student in our school, and he pulled a knife on a teacher. The only student arrested this year. Therefore,100% of the black students at the school were arrested this year compared to zero percent whites. That stat doesn’t mean a thing.

Hey, I’d bet that children of past alumni also get less punishment than others, heh? Maybe those that donate lots of money to the school get no punishment at all. Maybe that is why it just seems that others get more punishment...heh.
There is one black child at the Catholic nursery that my 2.5 year old daughter has teamed with. I told my wife: Maybe she is an Oombalawala Princess or something like that.

I read the article and there is not even a hint of which offenses are being committed. The implication that these schools are somehow more predisposed to calling the police on minorities, "just because." One can believe that, if one also believes in Santa Claus.

When they’re adults, there’s problem because they’re being ‘disproportionally arrested’. When they’re children, there’s a problem because they’re punished. The assumption is that both are the result of discrimination while the reality is it is the result of high levels of criminal activity and miserable cultural influences. By making it a racial issue, the liberals have insured that many will not learn proper behavior in school and instead will terrorize the population as adults.
Minority Students? I had no idea white males were more violent.

Next? We’re already there. Whites and Asians have adjusted their behavior accordingly, avoiding their neighborhoods while voting for anyone who will abort/contracept them out of existence. It is working with blacks, but they are simply being replaced by Hispanics.

The numbers pretty much reflect per capita incarceration rates of adult Blacks. The simple fact is that there are higher per capita rates of crimes committed by that racial group.Or does the gubmint now wish to apply affirmative action to crime and sentence transgressors according to their race rather than their crime to reflect the racial makeup of the population at large and assure diversity in prison arts and crafts classes.
