For once I am behind a Kennedy!
That’s a shame.
Seems he could have had obtained permission/clearance from the nurse in charge and perhaps a chaperone. I have never heard of parents taking newborns outside of the hospital until fully discharged.
Certainly, with the terrifying stories of infant abductions from maternity wards - he should have known the protocol. He is, after all, a reporter.
This happened January 7th - surprising it didn’t hit the news cycle before today.
They often put a bracelet and baby and a primary person besides the mother, as long as both are together the alarm is not set off. If the attorneys version is true, who’s baby is it? Does a nurse have the right to grab your child from you?
The press will always cover for the Kennedys as long as humanly possible.
This story stinks....why would you take a baby out for fresh air when it is a new born???? What could possibly be the reason for this? We’ve had two children and never did anything like that. Besides...why didn’t he speak with the staff about taking the baby out instead of just getting it and walking out with it as they tried to DO THEIR JOBS!!!
Seems he was instigating something. None of this story makes sense... I’m sure more will come out about it. He didn’t even have a diaper bag or anything with him... no baby bottles nothing...just the baby for fresh air?
This is a Kennedy which is not surprising but... i am NOT stupid and I AM suprised he would do this for no reason and to make a big stink about it as well. Lawyers etc...
When our grandson was born we had to stand outside in order for them to let us in as it was all secured!!! Were police alerted? Why did they have to follow him so much. Why wasn’t security or police there IMMEDIATELY??! nAHH, my own personal opinion???? Something stinks and stinks BIG TIME.
Kennedy named his kid after Obamas dog...
January 7th???? Amazing and.... VEREEEEE interesting.
Not me. Once again a Kennedy believes they are above any protocol. Hospitals have their protocol and I am sure that was explained to Kennedy, but he wouldn't listen. What if EVERY father did this?
Was he coked out of his mind or what? OMG.
His friend, the Emergency room doctor, supposedly saw the incident. I wonder why the ER doctor was up in the maternity ward in the first place.
Kennedy looked very belligerent. First going to the elevator, then trying to take the baby down the stairs. It looks like the tape was edited by ABC news, since it is only showing still pictures when the nurse ends up on the floor.
My experience as a mother: had the bracelet on baby and myself, not my husband and the last hospital I worked at followed that standard protocol as well. Anyone else attempting to leave the ward would have set off a security alert announced through the entire hospital and a lock down that included doors to the outside. This policy was taken very seriously for good reason. Looks as if Kennedy was stirring the pot.
I have never heard of any head nurse giving permission to override this protocol - that would be a major compliance issue.
I think we’re getting close. I wonder if he was going to take the (unfortunate) baby out of the hospital and then
do a gotcha story on how you can get a baby out of the hospital? This is extremely unusal behavior and i come to this as an NICU nurse for over 25 years. It just doesn’t
happen, period, let alone on jan 7 in new york. Doesn’t pass the smell test. Will we ever be rid of this freakish family?
Who ever reported him may be taken for a ride across some water
The nurse did not grab the baby - she was trying to prevent Kennedy from leaving the hospital with a ‘still registered patient’. Neither the baby, or the mother, had been discharged by the ob/gyn or the pediatrician.
The hospital and its staff (nurses & administrators) was still responsible for the welfare of the 2 day old (newborn).
I am shocked that the physician ‘friend of the Kennedys’ did not step in and advise the ‘father’ that it was against hospital/medical/administrative protocol to attempt to do what he did.
I admire the nurse whose commitment to safety was not overwhelmed by Kennedy worship.
You are correct - I was giving the idiot the benefit of the doubt; that perhaps he should have asked if he could take the infant outside.
Clearly the regulations have been put in place for protection of the patient(s) and Hospital liability insurance. Too many cases of newborn abductions as a result of lax security.
Kennedy should have considered the tragedy had a stranger attempted to abduct his newborn.
You wrote: “For once I am behind a Kennedy!”
You should probably give the situation more thoughtful consideration.
Hospitals have rules for the discharge of patients. Rules, I’m sure, that Douglas, “heir of the Kennedy Dynasty,” (as the reporter on the video called Douglas) believes only pertains to us peons and not him or his relatives.
Worst case scenario: What if something happened to the baby or if the baby contracted something while outside the hospital? Who’s responsible? This Kennedy nit-wit? Again, more “reckless behavior” exhibited by the Kennedy’s because they think they are special and above it all. Need examples: playing football while skiing and running into a tree; abusing babysitters, flying small aircraft at night when you are NOT INSTRUMENT QUALIFIED; leaving a young woman for dead in Chappaquidick to save your political neck; and on and on. This “Dynasty” has left nothing but destruction in its path.
Let me tell you as a former Democrat and Bostonian about the Kennedys. They like to throw around the term: “The Noblesse Oblige.” That is: “The Obligated Nobility.”
We don’t have any “Nobles” or “Dynasties” in this Nation and great “Republic” and I don’t need anyone “lording” over me. With the blessings afforded Our Nation AND me by My Lord, I have made the best of those blessings and opportunities beginning with escaping the shit hole that was The Bunker Hill Street Housing Project.
Kennedys, I don’t need you “taking care” of me and I don’t want you, any way, shape or form, “governing” us. Stay the hell out of my and my fellow citizen’s lives! Thank you very much.
Was this Kennedy character carrying the baby to a waiting Oldsmobile automobile?
