I have the best wife (vanity)
Feb. 14, 2012 | self

Posted on 02/14/2012 4:19:40 AM PST by rightly_dividing

I have a great wife and love her very much. She knows that I love her greatly. But more than just love her, I appreciate her and all that she does for me and has done for me, above and beyond what is expected of her. I also respect her, and admire her, and I am very proud to be her husband.
She is very pretty and sexy, but not revealing herself in her clothes, always easy and tasteful with the make-up, though I don’t think she needs any at all and she’s always a class act around people. She is truly a lady at all times. She is happy with herself as a mature Christian woman, able to minister to the younger mothers and their children. She is “Mom” to all her office workers, both male and females. She takes pride in making her nest a suitable and comfortable home for us. It always looks and smells like woman is in charge around here, and does not look like a bachelor’s place. She is my best friend, my partner, truly my other half, the better half, of course. I could not be any happier than to just be with my wife.

So, guys, am I the only one here with a five star wife?

Is she filipina? heh, I’m going on number 2 because my ex wife was none of things, heck after 10 years and 3 tours, she left me for another army guy.

That was a few years back, now things are looking a lot better.

Boy are you lucky. I have a mean wife.
She won’t let me chase women or get drunk. She only feeds me 3 meals a day (I have to get my own snacks) She expects me to work for a living. She ignores me when she is cleaning the house and lately she has been driving me to and from MD Anderson for my radiation treatments. Can’t get away from her. And to top it all off, she says after 38 years the only reason she hasn’t divorced me is because I haven’t suffered enough.
(At least she does have a good sense of humor)

My wife says that I understand women well.
I say “no, I don’t, I have just learned how to get along with them”

It’s real simple, say:

yes, dear;
anything you want, dear;
What can I do to help?

Understand them, never happen.

“It always looks and smells like woman is in charge around here”

I was reading along and nodding in agreement about my wife, but you lost me there. Our formal living room is that way, but we have six kids, three of whom are home schooled. I’m currently reading “Cheaper By the Dozen” to our fourth-grader, and the organized chaos they maintained is a lot like us - I like to joke that we went for the half-dozen discount instead. Like the book, Dad is often the main instigator of the chaos, and it take a special woman to put up with it.

You have my respect and best wishes for homeschooling. You may see my comment on schools-gone-wrong threads on Fr. I always say “two words: Home school”

Cheaper by the Dozen is a great family read aloud. We are down to only two home school students these days, but my husband still says at dinner time, ‘Not of general interest’ when our boys start waxing eloquent about the computer game of the day.

Me too. Of course, in our house, the boys always heavily outnumbered the girls. Back in the day if you sat down on the couch without looking, you were as likely to sit on a football helmet as you were pillow.

After five decades with my wife and witnessing countless marriages fall apart, I can say the thing I appreciate most about my wife is that she always believed in me and trusted me. No matter how bad I screwed up, she'd tell me everything was going to be alright, we'd get through it together, and then she'd tell me how wonderful and talented I was.

Today, I see these women harping on their husbands, demeaning them in public, and I feel for those men coming home to their own private hells each night. The greatest testament to my wife is the fact that all our sons who've married have chosen women much like her. I'm a blessed man and I owe it all to my wife who kept the whole show running on a shoestring for many years.

It is a great read-aloud - I’m on my fourth time through it with only one to go. (Two of the older ones were close enough in age and ability to do theirs together.)

I have used the “not of general interest” from time to time, although I usually forget about it shortly after we’re done reading the book. I wish I could whistle loud so I could call assembly and time them, because even for dinner it’s hard to get everyone rounded up (and hard to get Dad off of FR.)

BTTT for a really nice thread, and for a wonderful smile and laughter inducing post.

Both of your wives are very lucky ladies as well.

Thank You Lord, for blessings like finding the right person to share our lives with.

Mrs. blueunicorn6 is an expert pistol shot. She only wings me when I don’t do the laundry. Nothing says love like a well placed shot.

What a beautiful tribute to your wife!! You are both fortunate to have each other and may God continue to bless you both.

Since my dad is 89 & not computer literate, I’ll just have to write a little somethin’ somethin’ about dad and mom. They’ve been happily married for 58 years. The biggest blessing & gift of this long, happy marriage, from my perspective, is that I and my two brothers have always had a stable home and the love and support of our parents. They have never argued in any meaningful way and certainly not in front of ‘us kids’ so the examples they set in their marriage have been followed by their kids. Both parents were very happy to see their first grandchild get married in November, a very happy occasion for the whole family.

So - Happy Valentine’s day to all the husbands & wives out there and may you all be blessed with long and happy marriages, filled with love.
