Posted on 01/30/2012 9:58:56 AM PST by Politics4US

Is anyone not getting a lot of jobs show up in their search? The past few days this has happened for me on Monster.com.

I had better luck, when I was looking, using indeed.com.

I have found Monter to be useless in an actual job search.

Indeed.com can have a job show up today, when it was posted a month ago on some other site. A lot of those jobs are old that show up.

monster.com is not what it used to be.
Just do a general search, and look for a different site.

All I ever got from Monster was Spam.

They suck.

Same with several others.

indeed.com and simplyhired.com gave me better results. Actually talked to a few people.

Still not working for a company. In the process of doing something on my own. At least I don’t spend as much time on nonsense.

What state are you in? Every state has an online job portal. Ie- employflorida.com in Fl.

For what it’s worth to you, I get calls and emails every day when I post a resume. But, they stop about 2 weeks afterwards. Then I make an update, and I start getting calls again.

Keywords make a difference. Putting your actual phone number in makes a difference.

You must have more experience than me, because I don’t get a lot of phone calls.

The reason why you don't get allot of jobs to show up is because there are very few REAL jobs available. If you are interested in working for someone for defined wages and benefits, Forget it, Obama has pretty much killed that off. If you are willing to work for free or invest all your time and money in order to get ‘unlimited income’ IE Straight Commission, Almost anyone will 'hire' you do that.

The 2 major local newspapers in the area seem to have their job search engines connected to Monster. I usually look on Indeed.com or Craigslist. Craigslist seems to have the most ads for my field, but you rarely get a response when applying to ads there. Some of the ads seem to go to nonexistent jobs.
