Did you read the comments after? Clueless. A plus size model is someone in the 8-18 size range who models specially made plus sized clothing because no one wants to see a true plus sized woman modeling these clothes. Thus, a plus sized model is a NORMAL sized woman. The camera adds 10-20 lbs., so they use some subterfuge.

Is ennui another aspect of torpor?

Happy Friday the 13th-I’m working on a bid and I won’t be leaving to go anywhere but into the woods for firewood a bit later-the battery to my cordless saw is no good any more, so I’m in for a session of hand sawing-

The ennui inspired by Obama
Alternates with total distrust
So although no one is perfect
I’ll vote the way that I must-

Whatever it takes to restore
Some semblance of real sanity-
Someone who is really motivated
By something other than vanity

A CIC who is not looking at
His mirror after every decision-
Someone whose spoiled-brat attitude
Doesn’t invite the world’s derision

I think that magazine is missing the point as much as the modeling agencies are-one size does not fit all in any way. Look at the difference in the bone structure of the two models in that picture-the Russian woman’s structure is far larger and more robust than the smaller woman’s-of course she should weigh a lot more. My daughter is like the Russian woman-a big girl, full curves but not obese, size 14, but 4 inches shorter than my 5’9”. She obviously takes after her German father, who is a big man-some dinosaurs probably had smaller bones than my daughter-my bones are almost half as small. As to diet, she never met a dessert or a plate of pasta or potatoes she didn’t like.

Some ethnic groups just are bigger people than others, too-most Russians, Germans, etc are big.

Most of the people of Hispanic ancestry I know have a small bone structure like I do, even though a lot of them are way overweight. I’m a size 5 and 108, I’m very active, healthy and strong for my size, but I’ve done hard, physical work for years, too. I’ve never liked sweets or starch much, I eat only whole grain bread and cornbread that I bake myself, and I eat mostly veggies and fruit-I’m not a vegan because I like lean meat, too. Far more men are interested women like my daughter than me, even the married ones-so that tells you what most men like their women to be-at least the ones I know and work with.

We are all different, thank heaven and the fashion world (whatever THAT is) should just let women be women and quit pushing ANY body type as “ideal”.

And I’m eternally envious of women who have curves-hips and
boobs to show sweaters, tank tops, jeans and shorts to best advantage...

So 2011 is long gone and it’s now 2012 — not much is different. In other words, out with the O-L-D, in with the ennui...

There once was a man name of Weiner
Whose Twittering skills could be keener
While in throes of ennuiness
Stuck pose with his penis
And we all went “neener neener”

Here's another favorite Cole Porter rhyme (At Long Last Love):

Is it an earthquake or simply a shock?
Is it the good turtle soup or merely the mock?
Is it a cocktail, this feeling of joy?
Or is what I feel the real McCoy?

Is it for all time or simply a lark?
Is it Granada I see or only Asbury Park?
Is it a fancy not worth thinking of?
Or is it at long last love?

LMAO! That adds some levity to the subject. MrT5 always said it is a good thing we don’t all like the same things, because it would make it a really boring world...

I have dragged enough deadfalls from the woods for tonight’s fire and cut it up into fire-sized pieces with the f’ing hand saw. I have finished my bid and now will begin looking for a replacement muffler for a ruined one on my car-and it has to be cheap. I hate the Obama economy...

well we have matriculated Jules into the Olde Town School for Dogs, starting on 2/7. He had his “interview” this afternoon. They’ve already given me the My Dog is an Honor Student at the Olde Town School for Dogs bumpersticker and OH YES it is going up on my vehicle, no matter how i have to fight xshub who is bumpersticker averse !
Darby, the jack russell, and Lucius were both grads of OTSFD, Chanel was an angel from birth and so is completely unschooled. Jules is a wild man, and in dire need of schooling. I let them each pick out a treat there, and he picked some big long steer muscle thing, and i picked something out for Chanel. It’s kind of unseemly looking, i said to the woman, i don’t think i want to know what that is, as she rang it up, and she said, no, you don’t want to know, trust me. SO who the hell knows what body part of a cow that is. They traded treats once they got home and Jules is contentedly munching his unknown body part at my feet, as i type and an odor is wafting up to me, that is not exactly pleasant.
in any event, i am relieved that he will have some formal education bc he is a BIG boy, full of energy and exuberance, and he’s LOUD and boisterous, and is climbing up on things and will be able to reach my counters if he keeps growing! He needs to learn self-soothing technique to quiet himself down, etc. Yes, of course, i could teach him this stuff, but after working all day and coming home and needing to make dinner and help with my live kids homework, i don’t have the patience or energy, so i will let them do it, and i can reinforce it etc. He will go 4 days per week, for 3 weeks. and xshub will drop him off after dropping xsjr, bc his school is only a few blocks from her’s. I will pick him up after getting xsjr.

The contractor I work with just told me a joke about that-the ‘rats have an emergency ticket to run if it looks too dismal for Obama-the Weiner-Holder ticket, with guess who? I told him he needed a smack for telling bad jokes...
