Word For The Day, Tuesday, January 3, 2012
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
1. Having a stale smell; moldy; musty.
2. Old-fashioned or out-of-date, as architecture, furnishings, or the like.
3. Stubbornly conservative or old-fashioned; fogyish.
[Fusty comes from the Old French word fust, meaning a wine cask. As wine casks are stuffy and smelly, the adjective is a logical association.].
If today were a girl and degrees were years, it’d be barely legal out there!
"According to a survey, when asked if they would like to have sex with me, 30 per cent of women said 'Yes' while the other 70 per cent replied 'What, again?'"
LMAO! a legend in his own mind!
Out with the fusty and in with the new. looking forward to not hearing about IOWA any longer after today. i predict a Ron Paul win, there. i did see the loathesome statement by Alan Colmes about rick santorum’s poor dead child, and although he apologized, i still can’t get over someone saying something so nasty about anyone, no matter who they were.
Fusty. A winter cartoon character, Fusty the No-man. (He's called Fusty because he very fustyrated from everyone saying No to him particularly the No-women who could stay frozen solid wearing a black wool coat out in the Yuma summer sun in their crummy convertibles with the cheap Fingerhut clear plastic seat covers!
Sorry to go off like that but the leisure suit still fit pretty well and it didn't smell hardly at all after a little airing out. Ummmm, Fusty!
On Dec. 31, 2011 I finally got my husband to disgorge a couple of old cars from our barn and give them to Rawhide Boys’ Ranch (Bart Starr’s Charity). One of them was fusty, but a good spray of Febreze took care of that!
It remains to be seen whether 2012 will come down to a choice between the Fusty or the Faustian...
Barack Obama keeps trying on fusty old-fashioned Socialistic ideas, failing to realize everyone can tell they STINK.
Obama’s World: He thinks it’s just he
His leftist ideals are all fusty
Soak the rich; spread the wealth
He’ll take care of your health
Makes us wish the dems’ choice was Old Crusty
These pretzels are making me fusty!
Ha, I knew Crusty would come up.
Good one! Sorry about your Jets. I saw someone tweet that the #6 AFC seed should be given to Boise State.
Have you picked a team to root for (or hate the least)?
I sent the following letter to FOX:
I have watched and listened to Alan Colmes and his mindless
rehashing of liberal talking points ever since he was Sean Hannity’s
co-host. I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with any of his positions, but
his recent comment regarding Rick Santorum’s “taking
his dead baby home to play with” is so beyond the pale
that I am now wondering if the protections afforded by
the First Amendment should apply to him.
Like most conservatives, I watch FOX as the only
sane alternative to the networks, CNN and MSNBC.
And I understand that in order to remain “fair and balanced,”
you feel obligated to provide a forum to which allows
liberals and conservatives to debate issues. All well and good,
unless the liberals you choose are so vitriolic, so hateful,
and so venomous that they do not deserve air time.
I am joining the swelling ranks of thinking Americans who
will be boycotting your station until you sever all ties with
that disgusting creature. The next time I see him on your network
will be the last time I watch your network. I now get 95% of my
information from the Internet. I can easily make it 100%.
WOW, that was fantastic, Truthy! good for you. That letter was perfect.
Whether he comes in first or last in Iowa, Ron Paul will always be fusty to me.
Thanks. If anyone wants to be heard, here is the contact email address at FOX:
As I see it, the trouble with Colmes is that he is not even egregious. He still fits squarely in the Democrat fold. How bad must the education system have become for anyone to agree with him?
Thanks for providing the address, to make it easier.
If the average college graduate of today were half as educated as the average twelve year-old was when our country was founded, liberals would be extinct.
It was 20 out there this morning when we went to petsit. Those dogs did NOT want to walk farther than their yard.
(adjusting my white coat)....I am here to help you with your snowman fixation. How old were you when you saw your first snowman...
Thanks. They’re going to remain this way until the GM realizes that the OC situation is an indictment on A: his ability to evaluate Coaches, or B: Talent.
There’s no third alternative. 6 years, Pennington, Favre, and Sanchez, and this guy cant crack the Top 20 on Offense, with decent talent.
Right now, I just want the Giants eliminated.
What is it with those dems.......the more off the wall crazy they get the more they resemble a snake head.....Alan just keeps getting uglier. I usually see him on BORe with his SIL. She seems to cut him off before he digs in too deep.
I agree with all of your points except for the First Amendment comment, since the government protections of free speech don’t seem to have anything to do with his outrageous vitriol. I tried arguing that with the spouse just now, saying the FCC is under the govt. umbrella and how quickly something would have happened if someone had said the same thing about a prominent democrat.
The more I think about it, the angrier I get. Colmes' hero, Barack Hussein Obama, couldn't find it in his heart to vote for the Illinois version of the Infant Born Alive Act. The federal version of that Act said that if, during an abortion, an infant managed to avoid the "doctor's" scissors and somehow escape into free air, he'd be afforded all of the protections of our Constitution. Seems reasonable, no?
Obama, although he used a lot of weasel words, basically had said that if a woman comes to a hospital with the expectation of aborting her baby, he doesn't believe the government should do anything to sever the relationship between the woman and her doctor.
In other words, Obama, and, by extension, Colmes, are perfectly okay with taking that living baby and sticking him or her on a shelf in the laundry room until he or she dies of neglect. THAT is okay, but Rick Santorum's act of bringing his deceased infant home so that he and his family can grieve and get closure--THAT'S crazy! We have completely entered Bizarro World, and there is no Superman there to rescue us.
And it was painful for me, but I had to admit to him he was right.
It was sarcasm.
Alan Colmes is so fugly it is hard to even listen to him. He looks like he’s had work done but still looks like a Crypt Keeper to me. On top of that he’s a nasty hatefilled liberal tool.
Did you get snow? We got a little over an inch along with some wintery COLD weather. It’s enough to make me want to go back to bed and hide under the covers.....oh, wait...I already did that this morning.
Nicely done Truthy - could you add that fat tub of lard from The Five to that letter? Beckel and his constant reminders of his wild life of sex and drugs makes me so ill.
I won’t watch The Five until they make it The Four.
Does Beckel really spout off about doing drugs and having sex. OMG....I would literally gag to death.
It could be worse, you could be a Dallas fan...... why do they keep Romo?
I recently met someone who used to work at Fox and said that Alan Colmes is an extremely nice guy. I GUESS maybe that could be true, but be that as it may, this was totally beyond the pale. I know he called and spoke to the Santorums to apologize personally, but honestly, if he had a decent bone in his body he’d be embarrassed to show his face ever again.
It is disgusting because he glorifies drugs, even as he makes lame comments about them being bad.
At one time in this country, it was perfectly OK to have your wake at home with the casket in the living room. The grieving family was seated in chairs around the room accepting visitors and condolences.
I recall seeing The Wake in our local theater starring Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows....awesome play. The casket was, of course, in the living room. Very funny play, by the way.
I find the whole breakup with Sean and Allen fascinating. I still want the true story behind it all, not the cleaned up version they served us.
Huh! When Beckel yaps his mouth I tune out and do something else.........I must be pretty good at that. LOL
You know it will fly right over their heads too, right?
The lib radio host Lesley Marshall was on in his stead one day last week and i found her a refreshing change to his crap.
Of course colmes use of the term “play” made it sound creepy - he did that purposely instead of explaining that he didn’t want the baby thrown in the trash like so many liberals would have done.
I’m sure there could be worse people on than beckel, but I can’t name one right now without getting ill thinking about people that annoy me more than him. I missed that show but we dvr them so I’ll see it eventually
I could have fallen out of my chair one day when that Kirsten Powers espoused a conservative viewpoint. Of course, it was only that one time.
I’m sure if things were going better, you wouldn’t have crap like Holmes acting up either.
Everyone’s favorite Hines Ward got his 1000th catch on Sunday, making him the 8th person in NFL history to reach that mark. Probably the first half-Korean to do so.
And I always like a coach who goes for 2 to win a game instead of prolonging it. Even when it was meaningless.
