Market forces. If you don’t like flying in the cheap seats, I have an idea: DON’T! Pay more and get better seating.

I was on one just like that from Bangkok to Vientiene - with bald tires to boot.

OK, that's a bit worse than Boston to Presque Isle, LOL!

“We need to charge people according to weight. The plane spends more gasoline to get their carcass in the air, they shouldn’t pay the same.”

Logic and fairness do not apply in America any more.

Somewhere in an “elite” American Law School, a human scum, still in its larval stage, is plotting a lucrative career in Lipid Discrimination lawsuits.

I think that baby's about to be birthed within a year or two.

The 20-ish flight attendant was looking at her chart and moving us around before takeoff to distribute our weight safely. That's a real confidence booster.

Geez louise!!

A dress code would take care of that. Not dressed well enough for work in a normal office situation? You aren't flying.

I agree. The one airline I personally like, Southwest, does this here and there. Of course, they always get in trouble for it afterwards...

I do pay for better seating. I just flew back from Europe last month in 'economy plus' class which is what seat size the old 'economy' used to be before the airlines decided that child car seats were the model for the new standard 'economy' seat.

While you were getting snappy with me, they just added another row and shrunk the seats even more.

Herb Kelleher would have stood his ground if he had still been running Southwest.

should make that fat tub of guts ride in the cargo hold... that and fire the clerk that sold him only ONE ticket and not make him pay for a whole row!

RE-REGULATE THE AIRLINES. IT WAS A MISTAKE TO DEREGULATE THEM.

Nonsense. People *whine* about wanting more space on planes, but they're not willing to pay for it. What people really want is the lowest possible price. If you really care about more comfort then pony up for higher fares. I started flying first class a couple of years ago. I value the extra room enough to pay for it. Solved.

then airlines would declare anyone over 12 inch waist is obse and must pay double.

seriously. Morbid obesity has a limit to accomodation.

The harry potter ride at universal has a test seat outside and just before boarding. No three clicks, no ride.

I had to sit by some big fat slob on a long flight once.

That sucker spilled over the arm rest and took up most of my seat.

It was so ridiculous that I wondered if I were the subject of a hidden camera prank.

The zoning commission called and said that man is so fat he is required to install another butthole...

LOL!!!

I'm totally stealing that.

My line when I see someone that fat is that "their toilet filed for divorce".

Pretty soon you'll be in "first class" sitting in an economy-plus seat. Don't come whining to me.

The rest of the elderly FR naysayers can go get a nice case of deep vein thrombosis for all I care. Boy, isn't that a symptom of de-regulation?

“Then some normal-sized idiot in front of me decides that its his inalienable right to recline his seat...
What? It isn’t?

If I pay for my seat, am I not allowed to recline it because you are sitting behind me?

-PJ”

Go right ahead but you’ll know you’re practically sitting in my lap because i will be adjusting my legs every 10 seconds for the entire flight. Wreck my flight and i guarantee i will wreck yours.

Turnabout is fair play. I won't tell you what to do with your seat either.

Well, I might make an exception if you are traveling with a small dog under my seat. :-)

Again, market forces will eventually straighten that out. If people would stop flying because of how uncomfortable it is, it will make a difference. But demanding the government regulate the industry because you don’t like kids kicking you in the back is crazy.
