>> I love Bobby Flay’s BBQ, but he’s an ass, and if he gets out of his area, he founders. Same with Emeril.<<
In his defense, Bobby Flay’s “Throwdown” is a great combination of extremely thoughtful cooking combined with a great sense of humility and fun.
In the end he became fanatically opposed to a variety of staples in his earlier shows. He lost enough weight to become gaunt and sickly looking. His attitude became hostile and judgemental toward the sauces, deserts, cakes and sweet delicacies that he taught us to make. We lost Alton somewhere along the way....
and he’s still skinny.
what’s up with that? ;-)
My favorite is the Chili (with an i) episode.
I always enjoyed watching him cook with wine. The man got sloshed as he “sampled the wine” to make sure it was acceptable for cooking.
I wonder if he’s unwell as he’s been looking a bit drawn.
Anyway, I LOVED the episode where he had his grandmother on making biscuits!!
I have several of his cookbooks and gave several to my loves-to-cook son. I
I’m sure it’s a lot of work and perhaps creatively they just didn’t want to go on. I am hooked on Food Network and Cooking Channel and I’m sure Alton will do something bigger and better between his stints in Kitchen Stadium.
It’s a great show. I remember being very impressed my niece knew who he was years ago, when she was like 6.
It’s really a very educational show, there’s a lot of science discussed, etc.
“I enjoyed when he went cross-country journey on a motorcycle.”
Oh yes, I remember that. I think they rode BMWs, no? I remember telling hubby he’d like it and I think that was why.
I had to search since I forgot the name of the show. I came across this:
In the series, Alton Brown is seen riding a BMW R1200RT, a touring motorcycle, with a number of accessories.

He is a born again evangelical, and deeply religious, who knows ?
I really enjoyed Good Eats, I learned quite a bit every time I watched it.
:^(
Boo. I love his show!
At least I will still get to see him on Iron Chef. He is very entertaining and actually knows what he is talking about. I find him refreshing.
I used to love that show when I watched it years ago. Whatever happened to him, did he pass on?
Oh no! That’s the best show on that network!
He clued me in on Panko bread crumbs - now I’m a Panko breadcrumb fascist - it MUST be Panko or nothing.......
It was funny and full of information - the best recipe for a cooking show.
Justin passed away about 20 years ago. He was a comedian before he was a chef; the accent and the drinking were an act, although a very good one. BTW, he had several different shows, and they were all taped in Mississippi, not Louisiana.
Shame about Alton Brown; he’s lost so much weight because he’s been on a diet of mostly smoothies. He even made an episode about them. He’s actually cut out of most of the butter and starch he used to love. I guess he just ran out of ideas...
