CA Senate bill mandates gay history in schools
AP ^

Posted on 04/14/2011 5:55:16 PM PDT by chuckee

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people would be added to the lengthy list of social and ethnic groups that public schools must include in social studies lessons under a landmark bill passed Thursday by the California Senate. If the bill is adopted by the state Assembly and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown, California would become the first state to require the teaching of gay history. Supporters say the move is needed to counter anti-gay stereotypes and beliefs that make children in those groups vulnerable to bullying and suicide. Opponents counter that such instruction would further burden an already crowded curriculum and expose students to a subject that some parents find objectionable. The legislation, sponsored by Democratic Sen. Mark Leno of San Francisco, passed on a 23-14 party line vote. It also would add disabled people to the curriculum. Appealing to colleagues for support, Leno said gay children still struggle routinely with verbal and physical abuse at school, even though society is more accepting than when he was a gay youth in the 1960s. "We are second-class citizens and children are listening," he said. "When they see their teachers don't step up to the plate when their classmate is being harassed literally to death, they are listening and they get the message that there is something wrong with those people." Republican Sen. Doug La Malfa of Butte opposed the bill. "I'm deeply troubled kids would have to contemplate at a very, very early age, when many of us are teaching abstinence ... what is sexuality," he said. California law already requires schools to cover the contributions to the state and nation of women, African Americans, Mexican Americans, entrepreneurs, Asian Americans, European Americans, American Indians and labor.

Yes, the first lesson in gaydom in California ~ first of all both Jer Brown and Arnold are gay. Then too, all the Democrat politicians in the state, particularly the Hispanics who are born with thick built in kneepads just for that reason.

Everyone knows they will deliver by being asked politely or after a beatdown ~ take your pick.

This "first lesson" could go on and on and on. I doubt it's what it's designers had in mind, but there are some real possibilities here ~ things that will keep ALL of them out of national politics.

....And as parents have long feared, promotion of homosexual sex is not far behind. As the Illinois Family Association recently reported, GLSEN’s Facebook page recently published links to explicit sites for “gay” hook-ups for kids. The page disappeared shortly after pro-family groups publicized it, but you can see the PDF of it HERE.

Also, back in 2007 and 2009, the MassResistance blog documented GLSEN-Boston’s MySpace postings of pornograhic images, and links to adult homosexuals.)

I’m certain the students will be taught that homosexuals are the most intelligent, kindest, compassionate, tolerant and best-looking people in the world...that they invented fire, the wheel, sliced white bread, Preparation H, hula hoops and the internet...oooops, I forgot, Algore invented that.

What exactly is “gay history”?

If its the story of the homosexual rights movement in this country, it might have some value- particularly to California students who see open homosexuality all around them 24/7, enough to spend an hour or two on at most.

But if it is repeating the historical innuendos that figures like Alexander the Great, Michaelangelo or King James of the bible were “gay” heroes, it reduces the idea of history to the level of the National Enquirer.

I wonder if they will start the history with little bit of information? On October 31, French-Canadian flight attendant Gaëtan Dugas pays his first known visit to New York City bathhouses. He would later be deemed "Patient Zero" for his apparent connection to many early cases of AIDS in the United States.

History of AIDS

Oh of the suspected Ground Zero pateint?

Yeah, and they only hold hands and maybe steal a kiss once in a while . . . yeah, that's it.

I wonder if they'll delve into the rather high percentage of homosexuality with our biggest historical serial killers . . . Oh, I'm sure of that!

You mean it might be one-sided?

I'm sure they'll address the fact that the male homosexual lives to an average age of 39 if he has AIDS and that, even if he doesn't have AIDS, he'll have a life expectancy of only 41. Can't wait to see that in their textbooks . . . much shorter life expectancy than that of a smoker!

My state is so screwed up, I doubt it will ever be fixed..its too far gone to be saved. If I have kids, they get home schooled, that simple. I would NEVER put them in the public school system, heck I don’t even trust private schools knowing this kind of garbage is being taught. Its just more of the liberal agenda, trying to push their disgusting, perverted gay agenda down our throats

Note to all: Craig’s List has far more photographically graphic (and grotesque) material than anything on these queer advocacy sites.

South Florida has South Beach and Key West, where Queer Nation is actually “in your face”, on display, and suffering the consequences.

With apologies to Tom Lehrer,

So they are going to spend course time learning about how the mob ran gay bars in NYC and some queers rioted when their speakeasy got shut down?

They are going to learn about how a Democrat congressman had sex with a teenage aide and was applauded for it at the time of his death at the same time Democrats were demonizing 2 Republican homosexuals, one whom reportedly tapped his toes on the floor of an airport and the other who allegedly emailed a Democrat aide some sexual banter and then the Democrats and media chose to sit on it until the Fall of 2006 and lambaste the GOP for “knowing and doing nothing!”?

They are going to learn that a square peg CAN fit in a round hole?

Apart from the fact that this appears to be a vile, utterly indefensible effort to brainwash impressionable aged children into rejecting their family values--something that no public school has a legitimate right to do--it opens up, or should open up a demand that the State mandate a deep study of the wisdom of the Founding Fathers.

Does California require high school students to show a deep familiarity with Washington's Farewell Address; with the writings of Madison & Hamilton in the Federalist Papers; with Jefferson's Notes On The State Of Virginia, and if not, why not?!

Does it even offer a study--much less a mandated study--just offer a study, of the history of normal marriage between normal, God Fearing men & women; a study of how traditional marriage is supposed to work, with a division of responsibility between the sexes, etc.. Is there anything about this "mandate," that is not only utterly bizarre and perverse, but other than a demonstration of a total absence of any sense of proportion--any sense that the supporters are not at least approaching a text book definition of a dysfunctional mentality, if not outright insanity? Anything at all?
