I have always wondered about the fghts in the “Rocky” series. One would think any one of them would have been stopped for the safety of the fighters. There have been a lot of real fights that should have been stopped because one of the contestants couldn’t see out of one or both eyes. The refs let them continue though.
My guess is that they were special event fights and the rules were thrown out the window. Let them fight until they either couldn’t continue or were killed. Still, the fights staged in the series were great. Hard hitting from the get go. Even in real pro bouts, there’s never the amount of violent blows as depicted in Rocky. Raging Bull came close, though.
I’m partial to Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan vs Darth Maul in Ep 1, and Anakin vs Obi-Wan in Ep 3.
Emperor of the North - Lee Marvin vs. Ernest Borgnine, no holds barred!
I remember that one... brutal.
Memory just clicked....brutal is right, great fight.
Good one. Haven’t seen that one in a LONG time.
ROFL!
The fight between Black Mamba and The Crazy 88's, starting with her hacking off the arm of Louise Dryfuss. The best acting anyone from Sinefeld ever did.
Good point. I'll have to see this one.
The after school fight in “Three O’Clock High” is priceless.
“Last of the Mohicans” had some great indian fighting scenes.
Great fight. In same year with almost the same cast, Scott\Wayne had a doozy in “Pittsburgh”

For “realistic” I would say either “We Were Soldiers”, “Blackhawk Down”, or the opening sequence of “Saving Private Ryan.”
Anything from any of the ONG BAK movies with Tony Jaa

These look interesting. I’m going to try to get to them in the next hour or so. I’ve never heard of them.
Thanks for the links!
