It’s the end of the world as we know it.....
And I feel fine...

I was thinking perhaps a Cabernet Savignon from Napa Valley or the Central coast for the earthquake, then a single malt Scotch for the tsunami.

Then copious amounts of Natty Light for the clean-up.

In addition, this will be a full moon.

Does a full moon send more destructive light waves?

The different phases of the moon has different gravitational effects upon the Earth’s tides.

The thing I learned while I was at GTMO when we planned for “destructive weather”, i.e Hurricanes, was the cleanup cannot really be planned for.

You have to do all types of assessments, which tend to impact much of the planning.

I would say any type of “light” beer be would be most suitable for that type of operation.

“Natty” is certainly a cost effective approach.

Planning, planing, planning is the key. At least with a hurricane, you know they cut off alcohol sales 72 hours before the storm hits.

I figure one case per person per day would be the perfect amount of Natty.

“Yellow Tail Cabernet is really good.”

I lived down under for over 7 years. I can’t drink Yellow Tail Cab Sav. You do know, don’t you, that they export the bad stuff and keep the good stuff for themselves? It’s like Foster’s Lager or Steinlager- no one drinks it down under, or at least admits to it. Australia produces some awesome wine. Too bad they only send us their bad ones.

Nice estimate......but how many days? Then you have to keep it cold, which means ice, or perhaps tapping into your neighbor’s generator.

So many things to plan!

Think San Francisco or Los Angeles.

Here look at these dates of Earth Quakes on the Ring of Fire,

* Chile: Saturday Feb 27, 2010 – 8.8
* Chile: Thursday March 11, 2010 – 7.2
* New Zealand: Tuesday Feb 22, 2011 – 6.3
* Japan: Friday March 11, 2011 – 9.0

Now here is a chart from NASA showing the orbit of Elenin. Now line it up the dates and you will see the Earth in Alignment with Elenin. Here is the link from NASA.

http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=C%2F2010%20X1;orb=1;cov=0;log=0;cad=0#orb

If you have trouble, then watch this video with the guy lining it up.

We would have to "appropriate" from FEMA a generator, an air conditioned trailer and a refrigerated box truck. I mean, look at NOLA...they were thinking small. And not being part of the solution.

We would be aiding in the recovery.

Very cool links. Thank you. Very interesting. Wow. Time to prepare for a big earthquake either 9/26 or 10/17 this year in So Cal.

It would cost a fortune to ship full cans of that swill from Australia.

“Read a Foster’s can, its from Canada.”

It’s an Australian beer brewed under license in Canada.

then a single malt Scotch for the tsunami.

NO! Don't waste Scotch on salt water! what you'll need is grapefruit juice and gin: salty dogs!

On March 27, 1964, the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in North America shook all of Southcentral Alaska. The Good Friday Earthquake was originally recorded between 8.4 and 8.6 on the Richter Scale and later upgraded to a magnitude of 9.2.

Here's the relevant section from the Wikipedia entry on tides:
Approximately twice a month, around new moon and full moon when the Sun, Moon and Earth form a line (a condition known as syzygy[8]) the tidal force due to the Sun reinforces that due to the Moon.
I'm not convinced that this would make a significant difference on the occurrence of earthquakes, but it isn't a crackpot notion (as you suggest).
