Excellent idea. The free market would solve the problem much more quicly and more efficiently than a government/military run operation. They could even do a “Dawg the Bounty Hunter” type reality show and have DVDs distributed along the Somalia coast.

Absolutely, and perhaps there should be some rules of engagement, but the free market is always the true solution to a problem IMHO.

If memory serves, I think I read about how (long ago) the US had non-US government warships, and I think it was for pirates; Private owners with armed ships. I will have to research.

Yup. That's what I mean. A very aggressive blockade - sink anything that leaves the shore of Somalia.
