The New York TImes ^ | February 12, 2011 | Thomas Friedman

In the end, President Obama made a hugely important but unintended contribution to the democracy revolution in Egypt. Because the Obama team never found the voice to fully endorse the Tahrir Square revolution until it was over, the people in that square now know one very powerful thing: They did this all by themselves. That is so important. One of the most powerful chants I heard in the square on Friday night was: “The people made the regime step down.”

TOPICS: History; Society
KEYWORDS: kneepads; rebellion
In which the esteemed Mr. Friedman reveals the pedigree of his bejeweled kneepads embroidered with Barack 0bama's name on them. Apparently, Mr. 0bama's brilliance in being caught utterly flatfooted, nonfunctional, and largely incoherent with regard to the Egypt situation is exceeded only by the brilliance he showed by doing absolutely nothing out of paralysis.

Surely Tommy knows that the US has been propping up Mubarak for four decades, and all the US had to do to take him out was stop supporting him.

The US is who got toppled here, Tommy. You sure is one of them dumb guys, isn't you?

In other words Obama is so dumb he’s smart. What does that sort of analysis make Friedman?

They might have caused the regime to step down..for another that is by far worse. Time will tell.

It took a few months after the Iran deal finally came to full realization. By then it was to late.

What I want to know is, who gets to rub Friedman's nose in his own excrement when he gets it wrong?

Nobody can use the phrase "in the end" with this situation.

And now they have a military dictatorship rather than a military dictatorship with a figurehead. Ok...

vs

"Mr. Obama was furious, and it did not help that his secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Mr. Wisner’s key backer, was publicly warning that any credible transition would take time — even as Mr. Obama was demanding that change in Egypt begin right away... The trouble in sending a clear message was another example of how divided Mr. Obama’s foreign policy team remains..."

The New York Times -- all the opinion masquerading as news that they feel fit to print, no matter obviously desperately they slant it in the process.

So Obama was being brilliant in all the times he has essentially voted “present” and done nothing. Hell, if doing nothing were a sign of brilliance, my lazy, fat, sister-in-law is smarter than Einstein.
