Dyer rolling over the top of the defenseman getting up and stopping was strange.
What was with the field though? So much slipping.
Hopwfully, Oregon will insist that the roof be closed for the game. Chicken sit TCU arranged to have the roof open in Augusat when they played Oregon State. Had I bee the Oregon State coach/AD/President, I would have told TCU that the game would be delayed until the roof was closed and the temperature close to what should be expected in a domed stadium.
I agree. Too many teams are using the umpire as a screen. Gives too much advantage to the offense. Years ago I officiated HS football. Mechanics called for the umpire to move up into the line of scrimmage on a pass play to watch for holding and linemen down field. I don't know why college mechanics want the umpire to stay down field. IMHO, college mechanics should be changed on this issue.
It was a no-brainer for ESPN/ABC, generally women don't watch football, so ABC showed "The Bachelor", ESPN showed the game. Who would watch ESPN if ABC carried the game? This way, ESPN/ABC cornered the ratings market for that night.
So happy about this. Not that I’m an Auburn fan .... but that Mussberger sounded like a big Oregon fan last night. That, and I never have cared for Oregon.
As the alumnus of a Big 12 school, I respectfully object. The Big 12 has more schools with seven or more major NCAA violations cases than the SEC. We've had more probations than the SEC. We also have more teams listed among the "Ten Dirtiest NCAA Football Programs," based on probations, scholarships lost, bowl game prohibitions, and findings of lack of institutional control.
That was tough, but there are worse ways to lose a game. Tennessee has finished *two* games this year leading in points, only to be called back onto the field to give the other team one more play to win the game... ouch! lol
But, things are looking up for Tennessee - our new coach is 6-2 in games he’s won this year! ;)
Both teams deserve congratulations - Oregon and Auburn both played a great game last night and put on a heck of a show.

Doesn’t make sense. Does that mean “Alabama” is a red tide but the mascot is an elephant? So, I guess “Florida” is a gator but the mascot is a kid in a gator suit. “South Carolina” is a game and the mascot is a cock.
Bama and Auburn are the only two schools I’m aware of that has two “symbols”. Truthfully, Alabama should get rid of that elephant and change the “mascot” to a hounds tooth hat.
Having a mascot that's different than your team name is much, much, much more common than that.
Miami Hurricanes have an Ibis as a mascot. The Georgia Tech Yellowjackets have the Rambling Wreck, a Model T Ford. Harvard has the Johns and the Crimson. Yale the Eli and the Bulldogs. Tennessee, the Volunteers and a hound dog.
At the beginning of the Bowl Season, an ESPN columnist listed each bowl game and who would win based on mascots. A third or more of the teams had a mascot that was different than the team name.
Yep, after seeing the Oregon cheerleaders, I almost started pulling for Oregon! But, I had to stick with the SEC team out of loyalty to the conference. :)
You may also be stunned if you look at historic schools with "most major NCAA violations cases." The Big 12 leads, and the PAC 10 lis tied with the SEC. I realize 'historic' goes back to 1953, when major violations were first categorized . . . but when Auburn's called to task for being tied (with six other teams) for third-place, historically, two of Auburn's major violations cases were in the 1950s.
Thanks, I knew it would come down to who had it last and we left too much time on the clock. We played them tough so in the end it was a great game.
Go Ducks
There's only one explaination, Panthermom:
Ummm. Stallings? I understand he's a great man and has a great family; my cousin went to school with one of his children.
The way he hid the player/agent contact wasn't remotely squeaky clean (it led to probation and wins being vacated). He also played a role when the Alabama football player was found driving a stolen car (stolen from an Alabama student) in California.
Tennessee also has a hillbilly. Okalahoma has a “wagon” that represents a “sooner”. Texas Tech has “Booger Red” and a raider on a horse. I undertand that. But is Auburn the only one that has two “animals”? Of course I don’t know what an “Eli” is. ha!
SEC RULES! Maybe that’s why they need two “symbols”. They’re just so damned good that one ain’t enough to represent all that talent!
2011 Prediction: Tenn VS Arkansas in SEC Championship Game
Possible monkey wrenches in my prediction:
1) South Carolina
2) Saban’s Alabama NEVER has a rebuilding year
About five years ago, I heard a syndicated sports talk show host based out of Los Angeles say of the Oregon cheerleaders “Must be the products of families who relocated from southern Cal.” :-)
The team has plenty of speed...need some beefier linemen yet still athletic on the O and D-lines. It was a big stage for Darron Thomas (OU QB) and he made some early miscues that kept OU off of the board. They play an exciting brand of football. If you heard Urban Meyer on tv, he said he was impressed with seeing OU the first time play live because Chip Kelly calls plays to give his team chances to win.
Defensively they kept the Ducks in the game. Their performance on the biggest stage probably puts them over the edge in locking up more of the coveted recruits considering the PAC-12.
Ummm. Did you see how Auburn's DL manhandled Oregon's OL?
In an ESPN post ofter Boise's bowl win, a BSU fan posted that Boise's "hogs" (its offensive line) was "as big as anybody's in the country."
That sounded like pure delusion, and so I check a few schools.
Nebraska's OL: Four 6'7", four 6'6", six 6'5". Ten over 300 pounds.
Alabama's OL: Two 6'6", seven 6'5". Seven over 300 pounds.
Ohio State's OL: 6'8", 6'7", two 6'6", four 6'5". Seven over 300 pounds.
Now let's get to last night's game: Auburn's OL: Three 6'8", three 6'7", three 6'6", two 6'5", four 6'4", and twelve OL over 300.
Oregon has one 6'8", two 6'7", and six 6'5", with four players over 300 pounds
Boise State's OL: 6'6", one 6'5", three 6'4". One at exactly 300 pounds.
Auburn's DL would have crushed BSU's OL as if they were a high school team.
2011 Prediction: Tenn VS Arkansas in SEC Championship Game
As an SEC outsider I would say South Carolina vs. Alabama in 2011.
