Happy Thanksgiving! I know this is a vanity but it is my first one in over five years. I really just wanted to thank everyone for educating me, putting in my place (on occasions), being friends, and so many other positives. I cannot put into words how Free Republic has changed my life. This is not only the source of news that I receive, but it is also a place that I come to for assistance from time to time. My education has gained a ton since joining here. I apologize to those who I really irritated over the years. Sometimes my stupidity gets the best of me. The main reason that I wanted to send this vanity is just simply to tell you that I appreciate being here and thank you all! I did a search to see if any Thanksgiving threads were started and did not see any yet. It could be that you are in bed in the United States still. I am in Italy with my family and will be serving the troops today which is very exciting. This is my last Thanksgiving in the Navy as I retire in 2011. Thank you so much for your support!!!!!

A Blessed Thanksgiving to you and everyone on FR! By God’s Grace and Abundant Mercy, we are still able to celebrate this New Land that was dedicated to Him by ancestors of probably some here (both sides of my family were latecomers).
And thank you for your service. My grandfather was in the Navy during WWII. They called him Gabby since he was the quiet type.

Thank you, everyone who serves the country, either in our military or here in word and deed, fighting for the United States of America as it is meant to be under G-d and enumerated in our Constitution. This country was an Idea. Blood and brains have made it a reality. We have to refresh it constantly with new blood and brains to keep it.
It’s hard work. We have enemies foreign and domestic. I am grateful for everyone fighting this good fight.
Back at you FRiend! I hope that Pennsylvania is more Conservative than you remember it when you make your way back to the states.
Having spent time in Italy myself (Verona, Milano and other points to the north), has the government-run phone system improved? When I was there (more than 20 years ago), they were all branded SIP (?), if I recall the abbreviation correctly after so much time has passed. Phone calls were invariably touch and go and it was hard to complete a conversation before it would drop mid-sentence. I suppose it's all been privatized now and is reliable thanks to free enterprise! Maybe one may thing to add to the gratitude list. :-)
(By the way, another nightmare for me while there was Ferrovie dello Stato, the state-run railroad. Dirty and rarely on time.)
I'm currently in Germany on an unavoidable business trip, so I will be having my turkey dinner on Sunday if my family remembers to save some for me. lol.

Turkey’s in the oven and the house is beginning to have that holiday smell. Yum! Kids are anxious for the Macy’s parade to start. Hubby is just now rousing himself from sleep, haha.

Although I’ve never posted a thread...I have commented many times...some of which I regret, having not been more precise in posted comments; and some meant to be humorous where just plain stupid.
I am thankful for being home for Thanksgiving this year (R&R) and will be spending the day at the home of some fellow FReepers and good friends, the Eakers. FReeper humblegunner will be joining us as well.
I am also thankful that I was not groped when passing through a few airports on my way home earlier this week, even though some of my friends were disappointed that I arrived with no TSA grope stories. ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and all the Freepers. Before I found Free Republic, I felt like the sane one in a world of complete lunatics. I love FR because it makes me laugh, makes me cry and allows a conservative to see that there are more out there. Just a thought.
