Seeing how Spiderman 3 was a cringe-fest, I hope this reboot is successful--aka less girly. If only Christopher Nolan were doing it.

Here's Spiderman 2.0, who was in that political flop Lions for Lambs and is therefore probably already on the boycott list:

And here's Emma Stone:

Emma Stone is talented, and she's probably a good choice if the filmmakers want to make the audience really like her character, especially considering what happens to her... if, of course, they follow the story. She is not playing Mary Jane.

But does she belong on the Hollyweird boycott list too? Is this an Obama sticker?

(I know, I know--they're all libs, Felineaids! But I'm always interested in which celebs stay out of politics, because I wonder if that means they're closet conservatives or libertarians.) Now, male freepers, start hitting "post reply" and type "not guilty" like I know you're going to, though I'd much rather hear what people think of this reboot so soon after the first three movies...

Gee, what a great idea.

When are they going to remake “Meet Me In St. Louis”?

I guess old tinseltown is scared of the Obama economy just like everyone else.

The new movie will focus on a younger version of the superhero.

So are they already rebooting the franchise? Or just going with a prequel?

The retroactive continuity is messing with my mind.

Gwen Stacy was killed off in the original version of the Green Goblin story adapted in the first Spider-Man movie.

And the movie Peter Parker isn't the glasses wearing nerd that the comic book version was.

Might as well make Aunt May black this time around.

The philosophy in Hollywood is that there’s no idea so good it can’t be beaten to death.

How about this? I'm sick of "origin story" movies.

The characters don't run on and on for 40-80 years because the "origins" are so compelling.

I don't see a comedy about 2 high school friends both going to the first day of classes, and then eventually meeting each other, etc. to BUILD UP TO the real story.

Get right into it. Okay, so there is this guy who flies, or who dresses up like a big bat, and they've got these gadgets, or homebase, or whatever.

James Bond films start out in the middle of the action, you don't get into WHY DR XYZ BECAME a bad guy or if he's JUSTIFIED in taking on the US-UK imperialist capitalists...

So if they are going to give me another 90 minutes of origin stories, count me out.

Yea the only part about The Dark Knight that bothered me was Horseface in Katie Holmes’ roll.

I basically agree — although I have to admit that a movie showing why Dr. No became Dr. No does should interesting. But I guess that was pretty much done with Star Wars episodes 1-3, and they mostly sucked.

Hey, at least she got blown up. And it was a great scene too--her hair moves to the side right before it cuts away. Very cool. I love Christopher Nolan.

She is quite talented, and cute in a “girl next door” sort of way, which is why she is a good fit for the role.

Not crazy though about all this 3D stuff. As if movies were not expensive enough, now they figured out a way to charge you between $4 to $10 more a ticket just because it's in 3D. And the public just laps it up.

And its not great 3D like we had in the 50s and 60s, where the filmmaker teased the audience with sharp pointy things, slimy things, animals with fangs, and such. And they would be right at you face, and you would here the audience react with fright each occurrence. Now they just sit there, with zero response, but yet you here them as they walk out say ,”wow, the 3D was cool dude”. They don't know what cool 3D is.

I see your point. The two latest Batman movies did suck pretty badly. (Just say Beetlejuice 3x for a resurgence!) /s

It varies. There is no way to know. I thought S1 and S2 were very good. S3 was mediocre at best. This could be a worthwhile change.

I think Paul Soles is a little too old to play the Web-Slinger at age 80

Emma was hilarious in House Bunny. If she had been nude, it would have made the movie a classic.
