well since i am celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary to my one and only husband tomorrow, i haven’t broken up with or been broken up with, for some time. but my 18 yo son was broken up with by his girlfriend the day after his prom a month or so ago and he was heartbroken. i had to assure myself that he wouldn’t do anything nutty like this, bc it seems that kids just off themselves for inconsequential reasons any more. he got over it!
Yet when it's an attractive person with a seemingly great job, money, and lifestyle the story is met with scorn and ridicule around here. Oh, and gay jokes even though the story says he wasn't

Who cares about Derek Zoolander anyway? The man has only one look, for Christ’s sake! Blue Steel? Ferrari? Le Tigra? They’re the same face! Doesn’t anybody notice this?

He is not necessaily a “better,” but the concept remains.

you are absolutely right. with as depressing as the real life political situation is, we need threads like the devils panties and stippymom threads just to stay sane.
I agree, I find jokes about suicide distasteful no matter who the person was.
However, a similar occupation does not, IMHO, warrant joking about a kid who jumped off a building.

Because, how much of a coward can you be to check out like that, with all these things going for you? No sympathy for cowards, soo, they make for great funnies fodder, especially with Zoolander references.
I say this partially tongue-in-cheek, but I do know how passion affects people. Two of my friend’s girlfriends killed themselves in December. It’s pretty weird sometimes. It’s best to know that crap like this happens to people, and to learn how to intervene when it looks bad. Sadly, 90% of the time it’s too late. It’s horrible when young people take their own lives (or those of others) through crimes of passion.
