This image of the galaxy M82 was taken by NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope.
Scientists now think the galaxy is home to an oddity known as a micro-quasar.

It ACTUALLY began “pumping out radio waves” about 10 million years ago, not “last year”, right?

Yup, unless they’re wrong about how far away it is or the light (radio waves) is moving faster than, well, the speed of light (not likely).

Thanks for posting the article.

It is likely we could ‘discover’ ONE NEW THING about the Universe, every day, for as long as our civilization lasts, and still there would many, many more things we were yet to find.

SPACE.com must not have a very good 'science editor'.

“With the discovery of this new object, xxxxxx, we have to throw out our current understanding of the Universe and the Laws of Physics, and start over.”

You know when that was said?

Can't be.

When I turn on my radio, I see the light come on way before I can hear anything.

: )

Probably multiple times in the last few hundred years.

SCORE!!!!!!

"A few hundred times in the last few years" would also have been acceptable.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

A fundamental assumption of science is that the universe can be understood, and can be understood by an IQ in the human range. It remains to be seen whether the second part of that assumption is valid.
