Sen. Lindsey Graham appears to be proving himself a "Democrat" by the day. This is the same jackass who voted to confirm Justice Sonia Sotomayor who has proven to be as left wing as Justice Souter now applauds retiring Justice Stevens for his "long service". No Justice has proved so hostile to the accommodation of religion as has Justice Stevens. Both Justice Stevens and Sotomayor voted to uphold prohibitions on corporate free speech. Obama voted against Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Alito.
We all saw how how "civil" the debate was with then Ted Kennedy, Leahy, and Feinstein. And let's not talk about Bork.
But here's what Sen Graham has to say about the next nominee (S. Carolinians: Are you listening?)
“While I disagreed with many of Justice Stevens’ decisions, I respect his long service on the court. I look forward to reviewing the qualifications and record of the President’s nominee to replace Justice Stevens, the leader of the liberal bloc of the court. I expect the Judiciary Committee hearings on the next nominee to be civil, deliberative, thorough, challenging, and informative.”

Justice Stevens had the unmitigated gaul to change the words of the United States Constitution. In the majority opinion of the Kelo Vs. New London case, he changed the 5th Amendment eminent domain phrase “public use” to “public benefit”.
IMO, the five justices on the majority side of that decision should have been impeached and removed from the Supreme Court. Only “We the People” can change the Constitution by a 2/3 vote of both Houses and 3/4 of the States. This country is not supposed to be run by 9 lawyers who won the “JUDICIAL LOTTO”.
IMO, Justice Stevens did NOT serve his country. He abused his position by considering himself above “We The People” and he and Sen. Grahamesty can’t be gone fast enough.
We have a lot of work to do cleaning up the Party.
LOL - I remember when Rush compared BJ Clinton to Eddie Haskell back in the ‘90s, and Ken Osmond called in to object to having his character besmirched.
