“No fuel bills, they run on hay.”
A farmer speaks...have you priced hay lately?
Anyone can live in an Amish community by simply moving to where the Amish live in a specific area. If a person wants to join the Amish church, the person must move to an Amish community, live there for a length of time (which could be years), accepting the Amish and the Amish accepting you (it is really a mutual issue), being willing to live within the rules of the Church (Ordnung). To become a member of the Amish church requires a genuine religious commitment which is much more than just moving to an Amish community and living the Plain lifestyle of not using electricity, cars, telephones, etc.
The Amish grow it, they don’t buy it.
What do you mean no fuel bills?? You try feeding a horse for a year; then tell me how the cost compares to a diesel-powered tractor!!
LOL!
“The Amish grow it, they dont buy it.”
Well, judging from what we pay here, they should SELL it ;-)
Yes, the government is NOT allowed to discriminate among religions, doling out bennies to one and not to another.
Since I belong, not to an Amish Church, but to the Church of the Latter-Day Dude, as well as having an intangible connection to the the Church of the SubGenius, and neither of these churches countenance paying for services of ANY kind, including health services, I should be equally exempt - at least from the part where I have to actually PAY for insurance.
Just a question...since the Cahtholic bishops have issued statements that are coming our foursaquare against the bill, can we Catholics be exempt, too?
There are a lot more Catholics than Amish...just wonderin’...
Yikes...”foursquare”, not “foursaquare”.
Unless I just invented a new word.
Note to self...never try to post after teaching a 4-H class to a flock of adolescent women...
lol. oh, that’s good. thanks for the laugh on this most horrible day!!
They grow so much hay around here, half of it rots in the field.
What I do know is that our rights are granted to us by God, not Nancy, not Harry, not Barack The Long-legged Mack Daddy Hussein Obama. You see, rights granted to individuals by a government of men are alienable rights and may be taken from us at any time by that very same government of men.
We Amish are truly blessed in that God Himself, in his Divine Wisdom, has granted us rights such as Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness which are inalienable. Also, we are blessed that though His Divine Providence, He will look over us; our health, our prosperity, and our immortal souls, for eternity.
To place hedge bets against God Almighty by buying a government-mandated Healthcare Insurance Plan, when He, in His Divine Plan, has already provided for us everything we need, would be blasphemy.
Maybe that is how you should fill out your Official U.S. Census form ;)
I had this idea of just immigrating to a bannarepublic and overthrowing it. Kind of like Taiwan with China.
I think that all the people that own Mini-Coopers (it’s like an extended family) should be exempt. It is a religion and I object that they are excluded.
Here is the Christian Care MediShare page for news:

Here is the page with specific information regarding the health care exemption:
I haven't used them yet, but I am looking into going with one of these Christian organizations if Zer0's health care dreams are realized.
Thank you. I sent the links to myself.
Useful info there!
No Casinos? Eff that, I’m out. ;)
That's my plan going forward
Yes, our sect is known as the FIGHTING AMISH !!!
