Proms are stupid anyway.

Now, she can live with it. I don’t think she’s going to be very popular around town for a while.

At some future date she'll probably show up on YouTube being smacked around by her former friends.

There was a saying in the Navy that it is easier to get forgiveness than to get permission. The bulldykes should’a just shown up in tux and gown, and that would have been that! They were LOOKING to get rejected, to cause trouble.

And so the school district doesn’t go broke defending the expected lawsuits????????

That's really the bottom line, isn't it? This, like so much other zero tolerance and mindless foolishness that goes on, is due to the politicians that run school boards, and the administrators they hire, listening to and following the garbage advice that their retainer whores (aka lawyers) incessantly whisper in their ears, instead of manning up, growing a set, exercising common sense, and doing the right thing.

Course one might ask why does a public school have to hold a dance in the first place??? That really isn’t the job of public education.

I come from that neck of the woods and knowing the people who live in that area, they will have some kind of party without the school having anything to do with it. Where there is a will, there will be a way. It may not be as fancy or expensive, but those seniors will have a get together.

Actually, I was born about 30 miles south of Tupelo.

While they are not blameless the main blame is the people who canceled the prom due to lack of guts.

They could have said yes or know but they took the cowards way and made no stand and ruined it for everyone.

Gutless cowards

You said:

The school didn’t have to cancel. Ignoring folks is a good way of dealing with people too. Hold then dance and ignore the couple whom you don’t like anyway.

This is just silliness
END

I don’t think you understand the agenda of the homosexual community. They will NOT be ignored. They INSIST on being IN YOUR FACE disruptive — We’ve tried ignoring them for a while — and it has only made them MORE defiant.

Their motive is to FORCE themselves on us and our children. Homosexuality has been accepted in our society for a long time. Homos don’t want acceptance. And they are NOT going to settle for being ignored.

My opinion.

I agree.

Unless teenagers have suddenly gotten religion since 1992, a third of the girls at that prom are going to have their gown bunched up around their ears by the end of the night. So, I doubt two weirdos at the buffet line are going to impact their morals much.

No, silliness would have been to hold the prom and allow those lesbians to come.

There is nothing silly about caving in the the demands of homosexuals and the ACLU.

a strong argument for schooling to be private instead of governmental

Seems like the perfect solution. Schools are for education, not for organizing dances.

If people wanted to have them they can organize their own, and they can have what ever inclusive/exclusive rules that they want.

Gutless, maybe, but taxpayers won’t have to pay for a lawsuit either.

Okay, so now we have to cancel events for everyone so we don’t offend the sensibilities of a few?

It's the way schools have done things for a long time.

Somebody along the way got the mistaken idea that group punishment for individual misbehavior is the "fair" way to handle things.

What an upside-down definition of "fair!"

I’m sure you are correct, Gay rights on one side and certain parents on the other.
