Well here is A thought: I initially thought it was going to be like a galley sort of thing where the riders were propelling the vehicle. But if you did that, what would happen when it was time to stop or when it was time to start it up again and all kinds of stuff like that.

But if you used the pedal power to charge batteries...ahh...then you might have an idea...a driver, regular stops like a bus...

In limited applications of course....

And not like I’d want to do anything like that...like another poster wrote: who would want to be sitting on someone elses sweaty butt prints....

It would just turn into another illustration of why socialism doesn't work:

"Me? I'm not peddling! There are plenty of people in the system -- let them peddle and charge the batteries. I'm a taxpayer, I'm just going to sit here until this thing starts moving and takes me where I want to go. Why should I get all sweaty if I don't have to?"

This is like a fusion of the Jetsons and the Flintstones.

And dumber than either one.

I certainly agree with that.

Not to mention all the posters like “Pedal for the Common Good!” and other Soviet Retro art of sweaty people gazing to a future with resolve while pedaling their azzes off.
