Interpol has issued wanted notices for 11 suspects in the murder of Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, but Dubai's police chief has asked that Interpol also call for the arrest of the head of Israel's spy agency. Dahi Khalfan Tamin told Dubai TV he had asked the international police agency to issue one of its "red notices" for the head of Mossad, "in case Mossad is believed to be behind the crime, which is likely now."

A senior Israeli official who wished to remain anonymous told ABC News that if Dubai asks for the arrest of Mossad chief Meir Dagan, "They will be the laughing stock of the international police community."

"They obviously don't have a shred of evidence against Mossad," said the official, "and if they push forward they will...

On a side note: Didn’t Obama just grant Interpol officials ‘Diplomatic Status’ within the US? Think about what could happen here in a similar situation.

I assume these are the passport pictures of the assassins:

The occupation of assassin doesn't immediately come to mind at first glance with some of those guys.

"...it is often implicated in things it did not do..."

CBSnews interviewed the author of a book about the history of the Mossad:

"The Mossad's reputation is such that its mistakes are often seen as having been done on purpose, and it is often implicated in things it did not do," said Aaron J. Klein, a former Israeli intelligence officer whose book STRIKING BACK documents the Mossad's deadly response to the Munich attack.

I think you're mistaken. I think that these photos are associated with the stolen passport identities -- because I've heard at least one interview with a person whose name was on the counterfeit passport and they said that they were horrified to learn that their photograph is being shown all over the world as being implicated in an assassination.

He's a 50+ guy who made aliyah to Israel a couple years ago after having had a triple heart bypass surgery -- NOT sp00k material.

...Mossad is believed to be behind the crime...

Crime?

Crime indeed.

Give these men and women the Peace Prize for eliminating one more threat to peace and goodwill.

May they have continued good luck in their endeavors.

BBC News - Israeli press on Hamas killing in Dubai

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8521686.stm

Israeli press commentary on the killing of a senior Palestinian militant in Dubai - allegedly by an Israeli hit squad - has been mixed.

Some commentators have expressed confidence that their country will emerge unscathed by the affair. One expressed delight at the elimination of a ''cruel enemy'' - Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh - while others defended the Israeli secret service, Mossad, from public criticism, saying its reputation would remain intact even if it was found responsible for a messy operation in which agents were exposed on Dubai CCTV cameras.

Some commentators have been highly critical, questioning whether the prize was worth the cost in diplomatic relations.

EITAN HABER in YEDIOT AHARONOT
Let us assume for a moment that Mossad agents indeed were the ones who executed Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai and that the agents were exposed to the cameras… So what? The failure is not so great… I am happy for the elimination of a cruel enemy, Mr al-Mabhouh… As for the unpleasantness with governments - Britain, Ireland and France - don't worry.

What happens if Israel issues an arrest warrant for the head of Interpol? Dueling warrants? My warrant is bigger than your warrant?
