Steelfish wanted me to put this on "Chat" so we can get many more Freepers involved! The number for the Nathan's bookstore is : 510 652-6259. I called and asked for Nathan. Emily said he wasn't "in". I asked her if she could give him a message for me: she said, "NO" and hung up on me. Okay, Freepers Unite! Nathan needs to get more calls! SFChronicle ^ | November 20th, 2009

failed vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin

She didn't fail, McCain failed.

In otherwords they’re practicing censorship.

Why bother? Let them sit there with their dusty copies of Hillary’s, Bill’s, and now Barry’s ghost written books. Let the basic laws of the free market punish them.

I am sure if you want to find out how to insert items in to your backside, they have plenty of books on that. If you want to find out how to kill a baby in your home, they have that too. Want to find out how to eat your own feces and drink your own urine to save the planet, they got volumes on that. Ya, I am sure if your daily selection is in the perverted you would find Palin’s book distasteful.

The booksellers in San Fran can make all the excuses they want but the fact is their very large population of mostly illegal aliens, international dope peddlers and illiterate street people really aren’t into books anyway.

How utterly incredible! Bookstores claim to have difficulty surviving. Yet this one refuses to carry a top best seller? Self destructive decision.

Just because nobody in their market wants to buy the book is no excuse for these book stores to not stock the book. The whole idea smacks of capitalism. When the Fairness Doctrine is the law of the land, then the rules will be obeyed.

When John O'Neill's book Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry, (Regnery, 2004) came out, it was such a hot seller that it quickly disappeared from bookshelves. However, I went searching for a copy in Santa Monica, Calif., a hotbed of liberalism where I figured the book wouldn't sell, and sure enough, I found one at the local Borders.

"We're a small store and it would probably gross us all out. Some things you carry because of freedom of speech, but a book like that is just gross."

This from an area that encourages the most vile behavior on the planet, including some lovely tidbits like, leather goods, defacation on each other, and other such goodies. Gov Palin's book shouldn't be desecrated by being on a shelf within a 10 mile radius of the city.

I say again, it’s all about their social status.

Reading Palin’s book would result in loss of social status.

Most run-of-the-mill leftists and useful idiots are more concerned about how they appear on the ‘elite’ ladder than anything else.

‘Going Rogue’ would contaminate them if they touched it and all their friends would shriek and sneer at them. they would become Untouchables. Nobody would sit next to them at Starbucks. It would be as if they admitted to stamping on the heads of little kittens.

“I called and asked for Nathan. Emily said he wasn’t “in”

Nathan Embretson, a bookseller at Pendragon Books in Oakland

Emily Stackhouse ... Cover to Cover Booksellers in Noe Valley

(You have to admit, displaying zero reading comprehension skills while complaining about Sarah Palin’s book not being in stock probably gave her a joke she’ll tell friends for years)

The Socialist left hate freedom of speech.

Years ago, I went to the City Lights bookstore in San Francisco to buy Michael Savage’s book. I couldn’t find a copy anywhere. Clinton had his book out and there were hundreds of copies being pushed in the store windows and on every table top and the end racks.

I couldn’t find one copy of Savage’s book anywhere. It was already a NY Times #1 bestseller. I asked the clerk for one and she finally found a short stack of them hidden in the shelves BENEATH one of the tables.

Her excuse was that sometimes books sell out from their displays.

I asked her if Clinton’s hundreds of prominent copies might so sell out. I read her the riot act while she rang me up — about how liberals censor any opposition and how they had purposefully hidden Savages book, on and on, in a VERY loud voice. All the customers were looking at me like I was insane. She kept talking calmly trying to quiet me down, but I wasn’t having any. I lectured her and the other staff all the way out the door.

I HATE liberals. I hate them. They are my sworn enemy, as they are the enemies of freedom.

I know Palin’s book will be hidden out of sight in most SF bookstores. I used to think liberals were misguided. No. Liberals are evil.

Me too, FINF, hate Libs, hate them!
I used to have a couple of lefty friends: not any more. I can’t stand to be around them.

It hurts not to see my liberal friends, because we used to be so close at one time. I have a friend from 40 years ago. I just see liberals as the enemy now. I don’t know how to relate to my liberal friends anymore. If I were to visit, I would be thinking the entire time “you are one of those people who are destroying my freedom and enslaving me”.

How do you stay friends with people who are destroying your freedom? I can’t. I can’t be friends with these people. It is sad that politics has split me from some close friends, but I just can’t stomach the though that they are robbing me and their children of our constitutional freedoms and rushing us to totalitarian tyranny.

I’m surprised anyone in the Bay Area can read.
