Anyone here in the Boston area? I just got transferred to this center of loony leftist liberalism and am in desperate need of links with reality. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go to the FR local board for Mass, a lot of fine people there, introduce yourself. I was a Masshole for 42 years and I knew many of the Mass FReepers personally.

True, as is just about everything else. But if you live in New Hamshire and work in Massachusetts you get the worst part of both states' tax policy. You end up paying Massachusetts' income tax and paying the higher New Hampshire property taxes. (Actually it is just the rates that are higher - the lower Mass. tax rates are offset by the higher values for property.)
Of course you are probably already "enjoying" the high cost of living in Boston compared to Texas.
You'll find plenty of hidden conservatives, even in places like Cambridge. But be ready for stares from the leftists if they hear you talking about politics.
Just tune in AM 680 any time except the morning show.
Good luck and welcome. Lots of good b-ahhs here and — believe it or not — there are many conservatives here even in the Cambridge/Somerville area (right across the Charles). As someone mentioned the issue beyond all the college students, professors, limo-liberals and typical wackjobs lefties is the unions (especially the public unions). The corrupt democrats have the unions in their pocket, so even though many folks I grew up with share many of the values I do (lower taxes, less gov’t, 2nd ammendment, etc..) they’ll never vote against the democrats. It’s annoying, but it is what it is.
Also be aware that it’s a b@#$ch to get a License to Carry (LTC-A) in any of the cities here. I managed to get one, but Boston is a real PITA to have to deal with.

See also New York and New Jersey. I can take you to several neighborhoods/towns with American flags flying high that vote religiously Democrat because of the public employee/construction unions. This is what kills the GOP, especially in national elections.
Look up the illegal Guatemalans that worked at Mitt Romney’s house over 11 years and get them to tell you stories of how right wing he was as their Governor.

The most important thing to remember is that you can't argue with them because their culture is different. It's like if you went to the deepest jungle in Africa and the local tribe found out that you have an iPod. In this case, your iPod is reality, and the liberal natives of Massachusetts can relate to it no better than savages can relate to wireless internet. When they become frightened, they chant things like “Bushitler,” “No blood for oil,” and “Change you can believe in.” They generally won't attack you because they fear physical combat. It has bad magic. However, there are occasional incidents among some tribal members who have drunk too much alcohol, which they call “fire-water,” or “likka.” If you believe that you are threatened by one of these natives, tell him that you are friends with Chief Dick Cheney. They don't like Cheney, but they're afraid of him, so they'll leave you alone. They also have no idea that Texas is bigger than Fenway Park, so they'll believe that the two of you barbeque together on Sundays. Massachusetts liberals are not very smart.
Growing up in NH, I always felt great relief returning across the border from the deep jungle down south.
They got good food and drink. Lots of historic sights to see. The subway used to be free when in uniform. Get off base every single chance you have, get out and do and see stuff. It really has outrageous falls, pretty winters (cold as hell though) and postcard Christmassy.

When I visit, it’s like going to a different country (from NC / the South).
But overall the people seemed ok - actually pretty friendly compared to, um, the people I’ve been around when visiting say, Manhattan.
It’s sort of a live and let live type of environment.
I know they used to have rent control in Cambridge but that was leading to burned down buildings as the owners who could not get paid enough to keep up the buildings just let them deteriorate until they would finally just get burned down....but that was 20 years or so ago.
I think finally the demosocialists in Cambridge got rid of rent control. (hoping anyway).
The Charles River is beautiful but I could never endure the cold and snow that the residents there endure - so my hat’s off to you.
Get some good cold weather gear, clothing, tires. You’re gonna need them.

Don’t even think about concealed carry if you live in Boston. Some of the suburbs are better. Only a few.
Probably you should spend some time in Harvard Square. Then when you return to your suburban home it won’t seem so bad.
They LOVE Obama up there. They’re very proud of themselves for having voted for a BLACK MAN. They voted for his buddy Coupe Deval (Deval Patrick who is governor. He’s also black, thus the MassFolks are doubly proud of themselves. Deval earned his nickname because his first offical act as governor was to trade in the old Lincoln Town Car for a Caddy!)
