Thanks for the links. It’s easy to see how the ‘absent father/young identity-seeking mother’ dynamic could set someone on the path to personality disorder (especially combined with the presence of substitute father figures like Frank Marshall Davis).

I wish you were wrong but you are making too much sense for that! I have not heard, until now, a persuasive argument as to why we might be ‘likely’ to lose the next election! Seriously I’ve been shaking my head thinking ‘surely even his drones will reject him now’ but I hadn’t really accepted the inalienable nature of their need to maintain his false image.
You mention ‘est-holes’ (ok that makes me giggle), I’m the kind of person that keeps thinking there must be SOME way to reach them, some way to prove false their delusions. In my own life I have ‘stayed in the room too long’ trying to convince people of something they don’t want to believe because I somehow think that reality is a corrosive that can slowly erode delusion if they are soaked in it. I wouldn’t be good dealing with ‘est-holes’, wouldn’t know when to stop or would become angry at the cognitive dissonance that they wholeheartedly embrace ALL WHILE FEELING SUPERIOR to you! I have a naive belief that reality will trump ego even though I technically ‘know better’, it’s hard to let go of that hope.
I keep applying my overly optimistic approach to the Dems as well. Aren’t they embarrassed yet? Aren’t they worried yet? Aren’t they out and out scared yet? Do they see the country coming off the rails yet? etc.
I have friends who are Obama supporters and each of us is surprised that the other doesn’t ‘get it’. We don’t say that to each other but it’s there. I keep pondering how I could not see her need for an emperor having known her more than 20 years. As you can see I am just thinking out loud here - WHY do they need a cult leader? Superiority - is this the only way they can get it? From a cult? Their day to day lives were not elevating them over others (people like me) so having the right political views is at last the way to finally prove a secret belief in their superiority. This is very very sad. Hard to ever wean them from their need for superiority once they have ‘enjoyed’ it for this long.
You comment about the need for their egos to shatter points at one more aspect of the next election I hadn’t thought of - that it will require mass trauma to his supporters. If he should expose his true nature and the populace should recoil, we’d have a scarey creep as POTUS and his supporters would be dazed and going through ego trauma - WHO would they turn to next??? They’d want to restore their egos as quickly as possible and are likely to seize on someone even...even...worse? They wouldn’t be able to embrace anyone normal - it would signal the permanent fall to earth of their egos. They’d have to elect some other cult leader right? *shudder*
