Following the election results a few days ago, November third, Speaker Pelosi said ‘we won’? You remember how the Republicans mocked her for this statement?

well wel well, Pelosi did indeed win that night – she won the Health Care Reform bill. Had the Republicans won on Tuesday the two open congressional seats, the final HCR vote would have failed in a 218-217 vote.

Here is how:

And if Scuzzy won.. she’d have voted the same way and would have been 2 “””””gops””””” vote for this Obamanation, still giving Pelosilini the vaunted “BIPARTISAN” label..

and I, for ONE... voted for my LAST RINO in’08.

Um 218 is still bigger than 217, unless the rules are it has to be over 218. Is it?

BS! Scuzzy was against the public option.

Enough of the lies and deceit.

The win in NY23 by the Republican would have made a difference.

So you are saying scuzzlebutt would have voted for or against this bill? If I recall she supported Owens after leaving the race 5 days prior. In the case of a tie the smartest man in the room would have cast his vote.

The Dem was initially against the public option but was bullied in to it by the Kosites, netroots etc who funded his campaign.

The Rep was clearly against it from the beginning of the campaign.

A slight flaw: The Garamendi seat was held by Ellen Tauscher, and she would have voted for this bill anyway. My understanding is the Republican in NY-23 was already planning to vote for it as well. And so was the Republican who was running for it, Dede Scozzafava.

They don't because the same stinking crooked pile that has completely taken over them Dems has the Republicans as well. They will all tell you anything and just do whatever they want. That is the lesson for our generation. Washington and most of our national organizations like AARP, the American Medical association and on and on are owned and or being being dragged around by the nose by a few corrupt organizations with money and lawyers. There is only one party and it's commie.

The setup was from both sides. The RNC put out ads against the conservative and kept their little ‘r’ on the ticket..pulling away enough votes to get the selected dem elected...the one who would play.

Don't you see? The two party system is fake...they are both leading us further into big government. The republicans never reverse big government legislation.

It may have been that she was to be the "token" GOP vote. It really doesn't matter. Neither party ever reverses big government legislation. I don't know why we continue with this two party charade...other than if the people knew what was happening....they would revolt.

We would have lost anyway. Many of the Dems who voted no were given dispensation (she had 40 to give away) by Pelosi, who knew she had enough votes.

My Rep, McMahon, is a freshman Dem in a red (53-47 McCain) district, and got the needed cover. But had Nancy needed the vote, he would have given it to her despite the heat - and if not him, a few of the others who might not be quite as vulnerable.

Scozzafava LIED to get the support of Gingrich and a $900k infusion into her duplicitous campaign from the NRCC.
There is not a scintilla of evidence that if elected she would have voted last night against the health care bill, on the contrary, if one looks honestly at her words and deeds it can be confidently assumed she would have voted with the Democrats.

Armey, Thompson, Palin, Bachmann et al took the correct and proper action in endorsing Hoffman. Anyone censuring their decision is at best naïve, at worst disingenuous.

Uh, what was the vote? Only ONE Republican voted for this and it was Republicans who valiantly fought AGAINST it. The truth is we need MORE Republicans and the only way out of this mess is to vote STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN tickets.

I can tell who the good guys are and who the bad guys are from this vote. Thanks to all the great Republicans. We MUST send them reinforcements and voting a straight Republican ticket is the only way out.

elections have consequences...

and when we start growing up, listening, and voting smartly, we can rid ourselves of this evil....

and until third partiers, and people that vote without even knowing who's running stop their insanity, the insanity in Washington D.C. will continue.

I'm sorry granny...but the rats in both parties know how to count. The knew they didn't need any republicans this time. If they had needed some they would have found an excuse for it...like the republican that did vote for it. You know he just had to do it...they say.

Its always one excuse after another and the government gets bigger and bigger decade after decade. You of all people should be able to see that both parties have marched us into this over a period of time. They never reverse big government legislation. Never have...never will. The Republicans say the Dems pass it and they think they are off the hook...they run against what the Dems did and then they say they can't change anything when they are in. It's a horrifying corrupt pattern.

We don't need anymore of this fake two party system...it's corrupt to the core.

The RNC made the Dem win in NY-23. How? The "r" was intentionally not taken off the ticket in time. People who didn't pay attention. those who work and have families, pulled the lever for a non existent candidate. It was just enough votes to make the Dem win.

The Conservative got 45% of the entire vote and the "r" still on the ticket got 6%. 51% of the people voted against the dem but they played dirty tricks...yes, the republicans played dirty tricks to get a party insider elected. They even funded ads against the conservative. Only "players" are chosen to be elected, whether they are an "r" or a "d". The game? More power for Washington.

You have some valuable points but as far as this particular congress is concerned, we now have a very conservative core of Republicans and we must recognize that.

We must also recognize there is no other possible way to change this than to continue to work through the primary process to select the candidates we want and then to vote STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN after that.

Do you know any other practical way to improve things?

We have to vote for the Candidate that is not from Washington.

No more elite school graduates who have buddies, friends and relatives on the left to help out back home in Massachusetts.

We have to elect our neighbors and our accountants and our nurses and our farmers. We have to run for office and expect our fellow conservatives to vote for us. We need to stop being afraid of breaking away from the system of "r" and "d" and realize that they have already taken us to the worst and that we now have nothing else to lose.

It may take years to finally make it happen, but when it does, we will clear out the unconstitutional legislation and rid this country of this tyrannical, crooked “government”. This is how it was meant to be.

This two party game is a farce right now and it has to be stopped. It will be stopped, either by election or by something horrifying. The swing to socialism always swings back because it does not work. We do not want our grandchildren in a bloody revolution to get their freedom back...but that is exactly what will happen if we don't act.

Well, I've already done much of what you say. My congressman, Steve King, was a small construction company owner. He is also one of the best congressmen in congress and I want to keep him there. Some are advocating throwing out everyone in congress and starting over. This is ludicrous and shows the frenzy being whipped up by some conservatives.

There is even a group that exists trying to persuade all voters to vote out every incumbent--totally stupid!!

It's time to start thinking logically and not emotionally.

When we have schools, churches and the entertainment and news industry that are permeated with socialism, how can we expect perfection in our politicians. The problem originates at the grassroots level and we have the government the people want.

I do not believe we have the politicians that the people want. The people have been asleep and have been being lied to for years through the owned media.

Even the so called conservative news has been telling people that socialism and communism are no longer a threat to this country. Now that the people are waking up, the pols are desperate to keep regular people out of Washington. Both sides are completely invested in growing government for their own interests.

If you have a rep that you know is a conservative, then that is what we are looking for. Anyone who has been educated in the east is non starter...they are indoctrinated to big government and most of them don't even know it.

The Senate needs a clean sweep...no more dynasty candidates for President, no more listening to the media about who we should vote for.

We need to talk politics to people on the job and at school and at the family get togethers, at the drug store and at the gym. No more "politics are for someone else".. this is about our children.

Get with a group of concerned mothers that are not of any of the many government infiltrated organizations. AS A Mom.ning.com got 40,000 members in a week. It will take a long time and it will not be easy but it can be done.

Believe me we have the same goals but how are you going to mandate that only informed, moral people go to the polls? That is the problem. Reforms must come from the bottom up and I fear we've allowed liberalism to become so permeated in schools, churches, the press and entertainment that people's hearts are hardened. Why do you think we're in this mess? It's because enough of us want access to other people's money that they vote for the ones they think will steal from the producers and give to the nonproducers.

Getting all worked up about this is not going to help.

Get your kids out of the public schools. Refuse to watch network TV. If you go to a liberal, mainline church, leave it.

As a case in point, we have ardent Catholics here on FR who assume the Catholic church is a sanctuary for conservatism and it is not. It's far from it.

They should be but they're not. They give lip service to the abortion issue but that's it. They don't mean it and they don't care. If they cared, they wouldn't be looking the other way while Pelosi and Co. do their dirty work. Even the Catholic church puts a priority on distribuing other people's money. What are we going to do? We need changes at the bottom.
