LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Michael Jackson's father is seeking an allowance from his son's estate to help cover expenses that exceed $15,000 a month, according to court documents filed Friday.
The request seeking an unspecified amount for Joe Jackson was filed by lawyer Brian Oxman, who said there was no apparent reason for the administrators of the estate to not seek an allowance for the 81-year-old Jackson family patriarch.

From the article:
“The latest court documents say Joe Jackson receives a $1,700 monthly Social Security payment...”
and
“He does not have a regular or steady source of income...”
So which is it?
And another thing - isn’t Janet Jackson a gazillionaire in her own right? Why doesn’t SHE support her freeloader family?
I appreciate the update but does AP make you butcher it that bad, really? What are the AP guidelines and I’ll try to edit to meet them.
No, really. Why’d you have to gut the story?
The court should tell this creep where to shove his “support” request. What did he do with all the money he siphoned off from his kids back in the Jackson Five days? Invest it wisely so he could have a nice income in his old age? No, he spent it on bling and God knows what else, so now he can just learn to live on his Social Security check like millions of other older Americans. After creditors are paid, every remaining penny of Jackson’s estate belongs to his children.
