Should be interesting. Two aging pitchers pitching on short rest (three days for Pettitte, four days for Martinez) in the World Series. These guys ten years ago were two of the best in the league, and here they are - both possibly pitching their last games of their careers.

Martinez pitched game two, right?

Even though they lost that game, I thought he was doing a pretty good job...

He did, as the two runs came in the 7th. The Yankee offense was in the middle of a pretty bad stretch, though, and normally would hit somebody throwing what he was. Still, it fit the definition of a quality start.

You never really forget how to pitch. Both of these guys are pitchers, not throwers, and you probably won’t see anything above 85 from Pedro or 88 from Pettitte.

No wait, it was the third run that came in the 7th. The second came in the 6th on the second homer.

Still, it was a pretty good showing.

Third time’s a charm, apparently.

Much like Sabathia pitching to Utley, if I were Pedro I wouldn’t throw to Matsui anymore.

I have a trivia question for everyone (and this is a question which is appropriate for Free Republic). When was the last time the Yankees lead a World Series 3-2 and lost the last two games of the World Series at home?

Yes. Its 1926. The Cardinals beat the Yankees. Grover Cleveland Alexander won game 6 and saved game 7. Grover Cleveland Alexander was later portrayed in a movie called The Winning Team by Ronald Reagan.

Gotta give credit to the Phillies, also!

They played a very good series. I said early on I never thought it would be a sweep, either way!

The curse worked to perfection. Each year she was senator for NY the Yanks went home early. First year she is no longer senator Yanks win it all.
