New Book Says McCain Campaign Staff Turned Lights Out on Sarah Palin on Election Night 2008 - Video
Freedom's Lighthouse ^ | November 4, 2009 | BrianinMO

Here is video of the authors of a new book on Sarah Palin claiming in an interview on CBS that McCain Campaign officials actually had the lights turned out on Palin the night of the election to prevent her from giving a concession speech.

Authors of "Sarah from Alaska" - Scott Conroy and Shoshanna Walsh - say Palin had planned to give a concession speech on Election Night, but Sen. John McCain decided against it. Later in the evening, Palin reportedly returned to the stage with family to have some pictures taken, and McCain Campaign people thought she might try to make a speech and ordered the lights turned out!

The authors say it was an "all-out civil war" between McCain's staff and Palin's staff during the latter part of the campaign.

I don't know how fair this book is to Palin - probably not very based on other parts of this interview - but I do think there is little doubt that McCain's staff resented Palin, probably for the enormous crowds she drew, and because they knew during those final weeks that McCain was going to lose. . . Sounds very plausible to me.
It's exactly the sort of thing McCain and that bald headed bozo Steve Schmidt would do.

I knew she would dish the dirt. Totally explains why the McCain staffers were trying to make nice a month ago.

I made a comment in the election night live thread that something was wrong.

I remember McCain giving his concession, hardly even acknowledging Palin’s presence, and then walking off the stage, without giving Palin the opportunity to speak to the crowd.

I commented that the body language for each group (McCains on one side of the stage and Palins on the other) screamed that all was not smooth between them.

[McCain solo could hardly draw a crowd of 1,000, even after he got the nomination. Palin continually drew crowds of 10,000 or more. McCain's ego couldn't take that.]

Come on lord McCain of can I be your Veep JFKerry, has been in the habit of turning the lights out on Conservatives for a long time now.

Anyone remember his getting all that dirty money out of political campaigns... Some people will continue to say what a great man this turkey is, and apparently have no problem with lord McCain's non-stop back handing Conservatives across their proverbial cheeks.

I consider it a well calculated move to pluck Sarah out of that vast pristine wilderness to make sure her political legs were sawed off before she could do any more damage to the GOP political big tent. DRILL baby DRILL is against as much of the GOP high minded establishment as it is against the liberal dirtworshipers. Just ask lord McCain, he and his side kick who now carries his water until the next election cycle and lord McCain's former best gal friend in the Senate went together up to their altar on the frozen tundra to pay a sacrament of preservation.

Some people are never going to wake up.

I’ll wait to read her version in HER book. I’ll take all other authors, especially with those with competing books (such timing for the release of “Sarah from Alaska”...hmmm)..with a huge grain of salt.

What I noticed most was McCain’s little runt stopping all mention or photos in her blog of any of the Palin family over those last several weeks of the campaign. A stark change from her earlier gushing.

The GOP establishment hates Conservatives.

I think McCain picked Palin thinking that she was young, pretty, from an out-of-the-way state, and probably would be amendable to following orders. He found out that Sarah had a brain (and was serious about her conservative principles), and he got buyer's remorse.

Dear John McCain:
Thank you and God bless you for your wonderful military service for this country.
Having said that, you have become the epitome’ of what is wrong in Washington.
You have chosen the “institution” over the people it should represent.
In your rush to make nice and fear to make offence, you have jeopardized the safety of this great nation.
The man you didn’t dare offend (by telling the truth about him) is on the same ideological page as those who kept you and tortured you in Vietnam.
I beg you, in the name of decency and on behalf of the people of the United States of America: shit or get off the pot.
If you truly love this country more than the IDEAL you hold of Washington politics, it is time to go off on this Marxist piece of shit in the White House...

"The GOP establishment hates Conservatives."

Ain't that the truth, as it definitely bears repeating.

McCain should be ashamed of himself, as Sarah is the only reason why the November 2008 election was as close as it was.

Sarah not only electrified the RNC, she had folks coming to the rallies by the tens of thousands. She is the reason why Obama didn't have a complete landslide during that election.

McCain is a pompous jerk of a politician, and I hope he gets thrown out of office next year.

After using Palin the Rinos abused Palin. Rinos know they can not win elections so they use conservatives as props while they run left wing campaigns. McCain had no chance of winning with his pitiful ideology and liberal ideas - no different that Zero - so they brought in Palin and sucked the life that exists in her for the dark spirit we call McCain.

It is a shame that Palin went along with them but I am certain she did not realize that McCain is a nasty, backstabbing man who basically hates Americans like Palin and who surrouded himself with people like him. The Left wing’s attack on Palin was so successful because she was being handled by the Left wing right in McCain’s campaign.

That she is not standing separate from Rinos shows that she has learned about who is who and what is what in National politics. She took a Rino out in NY and I would guess she will take out more as time goes by. Some Rinos may be exposed in her book. It is important that Moderates realize how corrupt and nasty the “moderate” Rinos are.

From the excerpts of this book I’ve read, it sound quite interesting. Even though it may not be “pro-Palin” it doesn’t have to be to have a lot of useful information. It is already #800 at amazon, which is pretty good, and tells you what kind of interest there is in anything related to Sarah Palin. It may be worth reading, although I’ll probably see if it is at the library first.

It will probably irk him to the end of his days that the high point of his legacy was his choice of Sarah Palin for V.P. He chose her to get the conservative base (for whom he is way off base) and because she was a safe nobody. So thanks for that, John.

This actually did happen. I was at the McCain concession speech in Phoenix. There were thousands there, most wanting to see Sarah Palin (my party included). A time was given when McCain would go on the air to concede. We hustled to get into the venue but were slowed down by security checkpoints.

We finally got through, but McCain jumped the gun and conceded earlier that announce (probably due to TV demands).

The news media there told me they were expecting Palin to speak and in fact she stood on the opposite side the stage from McCain people. She held several sheet of paper in her hand (which I believed were her notes for her speech).

Suddenly the lights were dropped down and the concession speech was over.

On the way out I spoke with several TV camera crews and asked if Sarah was to speak or was it over. Their response was that they thought Sarah was to speak but there was a last minute change and the event was over.

We were very disappointed since we really wanted to hear Sarah not McCain.
