Janet Torren sensed something was wrong when the animal control officer didn’t return her calls. When she reached the officer, it seemed peculiar that her story changed with each question, she said.
It was not until Torren threatened to call police last month that she learned the Stoughton official in charge of finding stray dogs had given away her “little princess,’’ a 4-year-old Yorkshire terrier that Torren calls Shai.

Janet Torren of Rochester with Shai, who was given away by the Stoughton animal control officer.

Thanks!
I have a 4-year old Yorkie. Losing her job would be the least of Officer Bousquet’s problems if it was my dog.
The animal officer definitely should be facing criminal charges. It’s not clear the receiving police officer or girlfriend knew anything about the theft/lies. Sounds like after Torren figured out what was up, and gave the animal officer half an hour to produce the dog (perhaps demanding that the handover occur at the police station), she called and told the police chief why she was on her way over. Police Chief probably then called the animal officer and said “If you don’t have that dog here in 30 minutes, I’ll have a warrant out for your arrest.”
Very understandable. But consider that losing THIS job is definitely the least of this lying scumbag's problems now. Can you imagine trying to get a new job, in this job market, with this story about you sprawled all over the media? And she won't be eligible for unemployment checks either, since she was obviously fired "for cause".
Actually, since the dog catcher gave the dog to the police officer’s girlfriend, he should have known the minute she called him and considering he turned the dog over right away, he probably did, although he did the right thing. I think she should face charges as well, but at least she did get fired. The only consolation is that she won’t have too much of a career choice for the future...she couldn’t even get elected as dog catcher in that small town after that kind of scandal ; )
I think you’re confusing police officers here. The owner went to the station and met with the police chief. The dog had been given to some other police officer. It’s not clear from whom the police chief first heard about the situation, but sounds like it was probably from the owner, who had somehow managed to extract the information from the animal officer by threatening call police. If the owner called and talked to the police chief before going over to meet with him, he would have called the officer who’d gotten the dog to verify that he’d actually gotten such a dog from the animal officer, and then told him to get the dog over here NOW. Otherwise, he probably put in a call after the owner arrived and explained things to him, or else the animal officer had called the dog-possessing police officer to say “we have a problem and you need to take the dog to the police station”, and the officer probably then called the chief to say he was getting the dog and bringing it to the station ASAP.
She’s likely to end up as a $10 whore at a truckstop. In this economy there are just NO employers who need to settle for lying scum like this woman. She won’t even be able to get odd jobs from anybody who knows how to work Google or who has friends or family or kids who know how to work Google. Who would want this scum mowing their lawn or shoveling their snow? She’d probably steal something if you turned your back for a second.
