Wow, 1st?
Thanks for the thread WCG, let’s go racing!

Dodge Challenger testing at Dega yesterday.
Mustang

PING - Texas Racing this weekend
I just never can get in quick enough.
I can never be first either....
No okra for me.....
Nice looking cars! but can they fly upside down backward at 150 mph, right themselves and win races? CoTank The
Next Generation :-}
Have you ever thought about working for a living???
...pinching pennies.

NASCAR though now has a problem on its hands. They have visually attractive and realistic looking Nationwide cars competing with the less than handsome Cup Series COT.
After meetings this past week with drivers and team officials, NASCAR said they would make changes in 2011 to the front fascia of the Cup Series COT, presumably to make them look a little better up against the Nationwide COT. Lets hope the changes are enough.
At the end of the day, because of the quest for very close competition and the need to have templated bodies in that series, we felt that by forcing the Camaro into the Nationwide templates that we were compromising the body lines of an iconic car. So at the end of the day we just could not get the Camaro in the Nationwide series to satisfy our requirements.
Its understandable they didnt want to murder the body lines of a car theyve been working on for many years. Still how cool would that have been?
Four Chevrolet teams and drivers participated: Richard Childress Racing (Jeff Burton), Kevin Harvick Inc. (Kevin Harvick), JR Motorsports (Kelly Bires) and Phoenix Racing (James Buescher). The test roster also included two Roush Fenway Racing Fords (Colin Braun and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.), a Penske Racing Dodge (Justin Allgaier) and a Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota (Trevor Bayne).
Daytona International Raceway will host the Car of Tomorrows (and Mustangs) Nationwide debut in July 2010 followed by the Aug. 14 event at Michigan International Speedway, the Sept. 10 race at Richmond International Raceway and at Lowes Motor Speedway on Oct. 15. Full integration of the new car into the NASCAR Nationwide schedule is targeted for the 2011 season.
NOTE: I have read and you can see there is NO wing so this car should not go airborne like the CUP car AND there are no bumpstops - hallelujah [one of the worst things on the Cup car to adjust!!!]
April is my race because Jr runs NW too :) More bang for the buck
NW CoT has no wing. Wonder why? Because it doesn’t work LOL or I should say it does work to give lift to the car when it turns backwards.
We wanted to start conservative, because this was the first time weve had these cars on a superspeedway, said Nationwide Series director Joe Balash. So we put a tapered spacer on the car, and then we put a restrictor plate under the tapered spacer. We made a gear change along the way to work on the RPMs of the car. Were trying to balance our speeds and our RPMs.
We want this engine package to be the same RPM ranges we race everywhere else.
NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton was pleased with the early results.
My grandson works for the Dodge dealer and they had a couple of Challengers on the floor and the sticker price was $55,000 +...
Thanks for the ping...thread looks great!
Like the Camaro , not priced for the peeps ,I am afraid . at least not this peep . I was saving to give myself a Vette for my 60th birthday , and my bank account looks more Mustangish . If only 6 bangers are in my price range I will put my head in the oven with the B-day cake . Happy Trails .
Don’t make the same mistake I made and forget to turn the gas on...
Thanks :)
Hey, I was prepping for my examine/interview and I just happened to look up; all of you gentlemen can have my Okra. I’ll go for the dessert.
T.B., Is another name for “you’re way to qualified with way too much experience” a subtle way of saying I’m too old? I didn’t wear my Rush Limbaugh tie this time.
If you light the candles before you put your head & cake in the oven you can get a twofer. Just trying to help....
Speaking of help WCG put a couple of great links on another thread re: complaints about the state of affairs in NASCAR from Kyle Petty, Jimmy Spencer & Larry Mac & NASCAR’s response.

What was high score in the FR league?
I can’t believe my team made it through Dega without a wreck. Got 338
Keocuk with 316 which raises a red flag. I think someone said the average was 198...
Fortuna man is one of the casualties in Afghanistan last week... http://www.times-standard.com/localnews/ci_13701376
Fortuna is about 10 miles south of Eureka
Yes we had one of our own fall in Afghanistan. The whole town lined every road of his funeral procession - they had cranes out with flags......all the fire trucks police sheriff were out with their lights on. 100’s of motorcycles.
Everyone had American flags - it was an amazing thing. The length of this had to be about 20 miles through different streets of the city on out to the country to the burial site.
AAAKKKk
I’m out of drivers!
Prayers and thanks.
Can I put my order in now for a dozen of those fake beards ZZ-Top has? They’ll be great Christmas gifts.
I’m outa drivers too. I tried borrowing some from T.B. but when I asked him he just kept muttering something about “petunia....garden.....71 degrees”.....
Don’t think they’ll go over as well as you think. LOL
I just wish all my drivers that ended up with a red “0” this week would have done a little better last week.
Nice to see ya again and great looking thread. Thanks!
Hey Mac how’s the family?
BIG news breaking today that Danica is close to signing 2 year deal with JR Motorsports to run in NW series next year beginning with Daytona ARCA.

WOOHOO
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
FORT WORTH, Texas — Space Shuttle Endeavour pilot Doug Hurley has flown the country’s most expensive piece of aircraft, but he still finds himself electrified by Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage’s plans for his grand entrance during the pre-race festivities for Sunday’s Dickies 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
Gossage is keeping the arrival a surprise to the Texas Motor Speedway fans and will only hint that some type of aircraft will be involved. Hurley, a United States Marines Corps colonel who has been a Texas Motor Speedway season ticketholder since 2005, has been briefed on the plan and is looking forward to participating in the American Racing Custom Wheels Pre-Race Show leading up to the Dickies 500.

Doug Hurley
“When Texas Motor Speedway said that they wanted to honor me, I thought Eddie would say a few kind words about me on the pre-race stage,” Hurley said. “This is beyond my wildest dreams, but everyone told me that Eddie would come up with something dramatic and he sure did. I am a huge NASCAR fan and to be part of the pre-race show for a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at my home track is a tremendous honor.”
Gossage himself is equally excited about meeting perhaps the only season ticketholder in the history of Texas Motor Speedway that has traveled through space.
“How cool is it that a Texas Motor Speedway season ticketholder is a space shuttle pilot?” Gossage mused. “It is amazing to learn that he carried NASCAR items — including one from Texas Motor Speedway I am told — on his mission aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour. I guess this proves once and for all that race fans are rocket scientists. I think our fans are really going to enjoy seeing one of their own be honored in the way we have planned. It should be a very cool deal.”
Is there an echo in here?
Hellooooooo......
:)
I didn’t recognize you w/your ZZ-Top beard.
With that echo I hope your not in a cell.
Did you gentlemen select drivers that aren’t using training wheels this weekend??
Shhhhhh.... Don’t you know it was 10 PM last week at the time
Naw, they all have training wheels, but only on one side.
I’ve been running a day ahead all week. I keep thinking its Thursday when it’s Wednesday, etc. I thought yesterday was the last day to pick your drivers.
It will be interesting to see how Keselowski does in a Dodge product this weekend instead of a Hendrick Chevy. As the season winds down I would expect tempers/emotions to be muted on the track but who knows.
With the biggest storm of the season scheduled to hit tonight I will be outside today trying to finish winter preparations. I noticed the ground was frozen in some spots around the house yesterday afternoon; my BIL actually put up some Christimas lights this last weekend when it was in the 60’s.
How much bail money do you actually need, anyway?
Quick note - I’m working Sat & Sun so someone will have to do pings please.
Also, if I disappear for good it’s because my computer has not wanted to shut down properly and it would not boot up this morning at all. Had to force it......so not sure what’s wrong but cannot afford to fix or buy. Ugh
I have several very clean previously owned drivers I could sell you with a ridiculous low down payment but you will have to pick them up here in Eureka. We have a deep water port if that helps?
now that danica patrick is in NASCAR, what will she be driving? do they race volkswagon beetle convertibles?
She’ll be driving the other drivers crazy; it will probably lead to the first ever NASCAR driver mens calendar w/the lads showing they’ve got skin in the game too. :)
Did I tell you that I have ALL my Christmas shopping done? :)
GM wants to cut 10K jobs (Opel) in Germany and wants 4.5 billion dollars from the German government & other Europeran countries to subsidize their operations:

Government Motors, the gift that keeps on giving, err, taking.
It IS Thursday!
Good luck with the weather, it’s beautiful here! Perfect for racing. :)
Don’t know about bail yet, don’t think I’m wanted in this county, not sure. Not sure about NYT either, but without priors, it shouldn’t be too high.
Currently 50 MPH winds w/winter weather advisory from 10:00PM tonight until 4:00AM Sunday. Snow accumulation on the pass is forecast to be 25”; they are scared to guess what Bend is going to get. I am currently packing to go move in w/Tork but he doesn’t know it yet.
Enjoy yourself and have a hoot. If bail is less then 10K you didn’t try hard enough.
Doh...If there’s no Racin it must be Thursday???
Don’t ask me, ask someone responsible. I’m “day challenged” this week.
It is a beautiful thread w/great photos by WCG though.
Formula 1 is having issues w/Toyoter & Bridgestone pulling out. It could be worse for NASCAR.
On a side note Veterans Day is November 11th. With the tragedy at Ft Hood Texas today it’ll be another sad rememberance & reminder at the track on Sunday to truly honor those who serve in harms way here and abroad.
God Bless them all.
