Government Education… It not only provides an illustration of the cost up…quality down and lack of control of a government run program for comparing to the public option in Obamacare, it is a good argument when juxtaposed to things like the “Fairness Doctrine” because unlike watching TV or listening to the radio, school is mandated upon our children. Our kids are too often being indoctrinated and not taught, at least with TV and radio an adult can change channels or turn it off.
Okay. Is that all?
Agreed. I can’t understand why otherwise informed people who don’t buy what the Gov is selling are completely blinded by public education. They say things like, “In my conservative community we hold the teachers accountable and control what’s being taught....” Cylindrical Processed Meat!
Government Education…when it becomes the province of only a very few rich, will also be the training ground for the New Marxist American Party...notice that while everyone is all ‘Wee Wee’d Up” over the cost of health care, there is no massive government movement to reduce education costs. And who has more money than big colleges? Ivies have BILLIONS in endowments yet costs rise every year and are already out of reach for almost everyone...
I have been saying since the early part of the decade that, like unions, public schools had their time and place, but they are utterly obsolete now. Technology finally crossed the line where there is simply no need for the public school paradigm.
Don’t get me wrong, parents would have to be involved - kinda like they were a few decades ago. And with all the money we save on taxes by eliminating the public school system, mom can quit her job and get involved with her kids again.
Everybody wins.

Save your own kids or grandkids. It’s every family for themselves these days. Home school. Private school.
Do the time teaching them yourself or pony up the cash.
My kids attended public school because they’re my step-kids and I didn’t have much of a say in the matter. HOWEVER, I made d@mn-skippy sure that dinnertime was spent together as a family, and they were ‘de-programmed’ each and every day for 12 years. They all attended church and they all were confirmed.
It was well worth it. You work with what you’re given. ;)

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
18. Gain control of all student newspapers.
19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.
20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.
21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.
22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”
23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”
24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”
28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”
29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”
