Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound

Dear God, who suffered
torment, agony and death upon the Cross
to free our souls from the chains of iniquity;
protect and defend our troops. Guide them in
the performance of their duties. Strengthen
them to endure hardship, danger and depri-
vation in Your service. Let their efforts free
the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from the
chains of terror and slavery, foster a lasting
peace in the region, and bring all to a greater
share in Your Mercy.

Daddy's Boots

Daddy left his boots for me
and here I have to stay.
My daddy is a soldier,
I’m in charge while he’s away.

In Daddy’s boots I can pretend
that now I am the man
who does the things that Daddy does
as only Daddy can.

I help with little brother,
I help with folding clothes,
I help to set the table,
and I hope Daddy knows

that every day I wear his boots
so I’ll feel close to him
and I try to keep Mom happy
till he comes home again.

I know that he’s protecting us,
that’s what soldiers do,
but his boots are way too big for me
and my job, being him, is too.

Mom, when is Daddy coming home?
I miss him all the time.
She said Daddy would be proud of me
and his boots ... fit me just fine.

Been a very busy day. Hurried to church because I fooled around too long before getting ready....but made it on time! Then nothing would satisfy me today except potato soup and cornbread so I rushed into that when I came home. Straightened up my mess after cooking and eating and got a big long snoozzzzz~~~

Enjoyed a restful day. And hope you did.
