WPGA severing ties with ABC network
By Mike Stucka
WPGA is dropping its affiliation with the ABC network, leaving the local FOX affiliate to add ABC to a new channel, a WPGA official said today.
Lowell Register, president of WPGA, said the changes will come at midnight Jan. 1, when his station becomes independent. Viewers will still see syndicated favorites such as Martha Stewart, but they wont see ABC programming such as Good Morning America and its primetime lineup, Register said.
Register said hes been having more disagreements with ABC over its programming, though he declined to give specific examples. He said many of the ABC soap operas are too risque. WPGA is one of the last family-owned television stations in the nation.
I had somebody tell me theyre running a good bit of gay and lesbian stuff on it, thats really just in-your-face so to speak, and Im not sure thats appropriate. Thats happening in prime time, he said. Im not really happy with it.

...mmm mmm mmm ..who has said that?
This news out of Macon GA...doesn’t surprise me a bit.
There isn’t IMO much anymore on network television that’s worthy of the cost of a new 46” LCD HDTV we really want, so we don’t buy one.
We can get only network, or we could get satellite if we wanted to pay for our propaganda I s’pose.
I thought that this story was about womens’ golf.
LOL, so did I.
The guy who owned the dog sat proudly with his 'girlfriend' sitting next to him, and as he related the story he kept saying 'we were asleep' when the dog did whatever...'we were asleep in bed'.....blah blah
This is prime time, and I don't remember such blatant in-your-face lack of morals....on Fox.
there were lots of hostile comments to that article in the Macon Register
there were lots of hostile comments to that article in the Macon TELEGRAPH
Most TV nowadays stinks. When I turn on the electronic sewage machine, what I see before me is either filthy or boring, or propaganda,or all three. I’d rather read or watch a DVD of a golden oldie TV show or a golden oldie movie, or listen to music. Today’s TV? Yeccchhh!
did you forget a sarc tag or something?
It’s good to learn of the severance of ties. It’s a shame that there are so many other television stations owed by conglomerates that won’t do this.
Taking a stand on issues of morality almost always results in hostility. It’s a shame.
